I went out with Laura yesterday and we ended up at Bakers Square. We happened to get a playful waiter, so I played right back...to the point where, apparently, not only did I get my brownie a la mode for free, but he knocked an additional $.50 off. Really, the receipt said something like "Brownie, -$.50." Wild, eh? And it's not like you could say, um, you totally undercharged me for this; I mean, really, you didn't have to pay me to eat it. That would be rude. And don't worry about Laura; her pie came free with her dinner, so it's not like she lost out on anything. Our total bill came to just over $18. Naturally, we left him a really good tip.
Oh, and since I did tell him I'd post this on the internet:
Laura was curious what the difference was between French silk and chocolate cream pies. French silk is a mousse; chocolate cream is a pudding. Now you know. And for the second time last night, the waiter's explanation influenced her food choice--she went with the mousse. The first time? He explained that their mac and cheese was a lot like said dish at Noodles & Co., which is like one of Laura's favorite places. I'm telling you, this guy was a winner all the way around.
