Sour potatoes and crafting lenses

I haven't been sleeping well. Last night's storm woke me up and kept me there...until I missed my alarm going off, which happened because the power went out and, honestly, my alarm *wasn't* going to go off. Lucky for me, my internal clock still works and doesn't keep me sleeping long past when said alarm would go off, so it's not like I really overslept or anything.

I got really tired at work today, to the point where I seriously worried that I'd nod off. It didn't help that I had no tasks after 12:30. Sheesh. I thought I went on vacation and would have mounds of work to do when I got back. I guess not.

Laura and I still got together tonight, though, and I bored her to tears regaled her with tales of camp. We went to Sweet Tomatoes again and then, strangely enough, went to LensCrafters. As it turns out, not only do I look years younger than I am; I also have the face of a 12-year-old. How do I know this? We were trying on glasses and none of the adult pairs really fit me...but the kiddie pairs worked. I am so not kidding. It was kind of embarrassing, actually.

We got there kind of late and there were only a few minutes left before the mall closed when we walked out. I still wanted to go by Claire's to see if M was working; she was. This was the first I'd seen her in months. She was so excited--she told me I made her night. We'll have to get together sometime and sit and talk. Once we left Claire's, Laura and I walked over to the bargain bookstore that took over WB. It was so surreal; it was sort of a bastardization of my store. They used the same fixtures and similar signs. Even the sign above the back wall was still there, partially; they left the "books" part of it up. Whoa. Weird. But at the same time I'm glad that there's *something* there, that it's not just a black hole. And, they're hiring...
