Okay. So. I'm totally thinking about the perm account. I do use LJ a lot--hello--and it might be nice to support them. I don't know that I would honestly use all the features, but I might be interested in the userpics. I don't know

i bought a lj membership so that i could search goegraphic areas. which worked okay.
i was not able to figure out all the cool layouts and all this other junk that is supposed to come with a paid membership. it cant be that hard, but when i go to change things, there are just no choices. so i am obviously missing something.
anyway, i use my lj all the time, but i am going to let it expire-- for me personally, nothing they offer is super great. of course, i post my photos elsewhere and dont care about icons, so that makes a difference.
Last night I went and checked out the stuff you get with a paid account; the only things that interest me are the icons and *maybe* the polls. That's it. All the other stuff? Superfluous. Like layouts--I'd maybe want to change the other accounts I have, but I like the one I use here. I haven't changed it in the three years I've been here. (Okay, maybe I adjusted one of the pinks to a darker shade so it showed up better. Whoop-de-doo.)
I'd be more likely to pay for it if I could spread the wealth to my other accounts, but they won't let you do that. Rats. Also, I realized this morning that I would rather spend that money on clothes, as most of the shirts I wore during summers at the mall were sleeveless. I am not allowed to wear sleeveless tops at this job. Rats. So a good third of my wardrobe is off-limits during the week. And, of the tops I have left, they're the same color as my pants. I'd rather not go to work in all brown or all black. Bleah.
Where do you post your photos? How do you like that service?
My job does have a dress code. Plus, being the first person pretty much anybody coming in sees, they want me to set a certain tone. The possibility of flashing a bra strap to an important potential customer is too much.
Your other job frankly sounds like it was run by Nazis. The other girl had to go out and buy nylons on her break? Holy crap. And why the hell would they care if you weren't wearing full nylons? They should have just had uniforms, quite honestly.
If I went with Flickr, I think their cost would be comparable to having my own domain. I have this price in my head of my own domain being about $30/year; Flickr is less than that. I think I saw that amount somewhere; it's not just an arbitrary number. Plus, getting my own domain is one more thing I have to worry about. I have enough websites that I don't use to their fullest capacity. Right now I'm leaning toward going with one Flickr site, but I still have more thinking to do about it. Thanks for your input, though!
