All of a sudden, it feels like someone is pounding my head with a spear. Not good.
Today was Page Day. As in, today was the first day I really got to page anyone over the loudspeaker. And, therefore, this was the day everyone commented on how I paged, how I need to be louder and "Don't be shy!" No, I'm not shy about this...it's more like, I need to talk in my cutesy-girl voice, not my actual normal speaking voice. And I thought I left that at the bookstore. Okay, fine. (Really. For whatever reason, the voice I used at the store was a good octave higher than my actual alto tone. Strange.)
I also used the printer today, notable because my computer hadn't been set up to use the correct printer since it was changed over to be *my* computer.
Thursday is paycheck day, so I got to sort through them for the various buildings (three) and shifts (also three).
I have a window off my desk that looks onto the small lobby, and past that to outside. I've been watching the trees start to get their leaves--kind of nice. But it makes me realize we never had an official Green Day this year. What I mean by that: In recent years, there's been one day where, all of a sudden, I notice that everything's blooming. That didn't really happen. I recall walking to the post office on the 2nd and sort of seeing things with green buds, but not really. And then we had the cold snap and the snow, so half the world is colorful and the other half appears dead. Come on, spring, April's half over.
Anyway.
Let's see, what else...I also get to play with birthday cards and service awards (for 5th, 10th, and 15th anniversaries), so I worked with some of those today. And I also have to go to Sam's to pick up cakes once a month for office birthdays. Oh, joy. I was told that they typically get chocolate cakes; I'll have to see if there's any interest in half-chocolate, half-vanilla/yellow/not chocolate. It would suck if I had to fetch the cake and then I wouldn't eat it. Oh, and I played with Outlook. We use it for email, but I didn't realize there's a little calendar function on there as well. I started plugging in birthdays and anniversaries--all the better to remind me to do what I need to do. Hmm. Interesting. Now I can see why other companies want people with Outlook experience.
One more day, and my first week is over.
Oh, and I found out the VP-type guy has a nice voice. Except he used it to sing "Springtime for Hitler." It was odd and amusing at the same time.
