Mary's little lamb has died

I *could* spend this whole post ranting about my generally awful day at work, in which I nearly paper-cut at least one customer to death. I really should have.

Instead, I will bring you the one highlight of my day:
I've been rearranging the kids' section as of late. We moved the store around over the summer, and Kids was done while I was at camp (translation: it wasn't so good), so I've been meaning to play with it for quite some time. Finally, I'm getting around to it, and it's way better. I've gotten to the hardcover picture books--my vision of face-outs on the top three shelves and spines across the bottom was perfect--and the board books (there's a semblance of order now!). Today: The rest of the baby books, namely touch and feel and pop-ups. There are some bath books mixed in there as well, and one was a Mary Had a Little Lamb book that played the song. Or, well, it was *supposed* the play the song. Apparently we've had the book for a while, or it's been played a lot, or both, because when I pressed it to hear it, the book started making these horrible dying noises. Methinks Mary's little lamb had been cooked, eaten, then reheated as leftovers. Hello, defective pile.

Then, a funny from yesterday: Mom had some sort of wacky recipe involving sausage, sweet potatoes, and apples. The exact sausage was supposed to be Polska kielbasa. After I ate, we had this exchange:
Mom: I couldn't find Polska kielbasa, so I had to use Polish sausage.
Me: Uh, mom, that's the same thing.
Granted, she's Polish in name only, but I think we've rubbed off on her over the years. ;)

Lastly: The luggage did find its way to our house yesterday. My suitcase is now sitting in my room. I shall go hug it shortly and tell it never to be naughty again.

work, lost luggage, mom, polska kielbasa, family, mary had a little lamb, bookstore
