You may be on it, but I still hate MySpace

While at Oberweis between the wedding and the reception, Karyn and I got into a conversation about how we know the same person on Karyn's friends' list (Karyn from high school, me from college; Karyn easily knows her better). The guy sitting across from us, Steve, asked how we knew each other...through MySpace? Uh, no. Rather, my reply was, "What am I, twelve?" Yes, let's get some aloe for that burn.

Every so often I'll check my friends' links, and Jessica, who was at the wedding, had mentioned she's back on MySpace. On her regular website, she has a link to her MySpace account. I checked out her friends, and I know more people on there than I thought I would. Christie is there, Sven's band is there, Cory (AKA Schwank) is there. Wow.

Of course, aside from the fact I'm not twelve, there are other reasons I hate MySpace. I hate pop-ups, and the past few times I've tried to see someone's MySpace page, the pop-ups have basically crashed my browser. Today, while trying to see Christie's and Sven's pages, the browser had an error. Um...what is the point of having a page that people can't get to? Or is MySpace prejudiced against Firefox? Both of those pages can play music (duh, they're musicians), and that may have caused the issue. The little music box thing would start to come up and then the page would change over to a different one, and then an error would pop up. Not good. So that is my main problem with MySpace--I generally can't get to certain people's pages. Plus it's full of obnoxious teens. I get those at work. I don't want them when I'm home, too.

(The only reason I would be on MySpace would be to promote my own music. And since I'm a weenie when it comes to, y'know, sharing what I write, and I hate performing in front of people, well, that'll never happen.)
