We didn't have our usual Sunday phone call with grandma, but there was a reason for it: My uncle asked grandma to watch his dog. We didn't get the full story until after the fact, but the dog, who is getting older, was having some digestive issues last week. My uncle's family had a convention to attend this weekend, and they didn't want to leave the dog alone in case more issues cropped up--or, really, they just wanted her to have easy access to the bathroom, I imagine. So, grandma to the rescue; she got an all expenses paid trip to Algonquin, again; she was just there a couple weeks ago. Grandma truthfully hates being away from home overnight, and this was a two-night stay, I believe (and I think my uncle came home at night, so it's not like they were gone the entire time). Mom was joking that my uncle told the dog she was in charge of grandma. I mean, whatever you have to tell the other to make them feel good about the situation. As far as I know, all went well and grandma is back home in the land of confusion and phones.
