Solo contest season
We're getting there! I got asked last month if I could work a Saturday for the office manager. I then reached out to Mrs. S to make sure she didn't have a contest that day, plus asked when her contest dates would be. I hadn't heard back, and she hasn't had any contests in January, so I hedged my bets and told her I would not be available but to let me know her info. She did get back to me--and she is up to *4* dates this year. I knew she added a fourth school last year so it wasn't entirely a surprise, but three dates was really pushing it for me last year. That last date, for the new school, also falls on a day where there is a major work thing. I put all four dates on my work calendar and nobody flinched--knowing my boss, he won't be concerned about it until about a week ahead of time--but I've been feeling low-level anxiety this week. That last school is the farthest away, as well. I'd told her I'd get back to her with my final schedule later in the week, so I replied last night to say I could do the first three but not the last one. I know she has at least one other person who can do contests, and I might as well let that person do it. The good news is that I'm not worried about my car this year, but I still need time off. Giving up three out of four Saturdays in a row (the last would be four out of five) is a big deal.
