Feeling squirrelly this morning
Just before I left for work, I looked outside and saw a squirrel digging under the tree by the front door. I tapped on the window to get his attention and he looked up and saw me. Curious, the squirrel came onto the front porch and started to come close to the house. That's when mom, who was doing Zumba nearby, came over to investigate. Her quickly coming into view scared the squirrel and he ran away.
A minute later, here comes the squirrel again, now close enough to peer into the house, his little claw reaching onto the outside sill. Well hello there, little squirrel. This time mom was able to see him, and she started to get a little freaked out that this squirrel seemed to be making itself at home. What, he's curious. Also, he's probably looking for nuts.
By now my father has wandered over to see what's going on, and as we all watch, the squirrel sort of hops around on the ground under the tree, then comes back up on the porch, gets right up to the window, and starts peering inside. I mean, we're all staring at him; why are we getting upset at him for doing the same?
By now I have to leave the house, and the opening of the front door is enough to scare him into the tree, so that when I open the storm door there's no concern of him trying to get inside. No pets, remember. I don't know if he came for visits after I left, but it was amusing for a few minutes this morning.
