Super productive Saturday

If it's February, it means I'm getting into contest season, and I have 2 definite and 1 possible contests to do in the next few weeks, starting next Saturday. I realized I had chores I needed to get done, so no time like the present! It helps that I basically shut down on Friday night, because that meant on Saturday I was restored and had a fair amount of energy. Also, mom went to see 80 for Brady with the Red Hats and left just as we got back from shopping, so she was out of the house for a few hours. Dad, for his part, is working on a project in the basement--we got contacted by the city last summer, looking to check our water meter as it apparently went haywire. I'm kinda thinking it's more that we filled a pool for hours but, I mean, it's a 30+-year-old house. Dad never contacted them back, they sent a certified letter saying they're coming next week, and dad's been shoveling through junk in the basement ever since. It was super quiet yesterday aside from occasional bumps from down there.

For my part, I just needed to clean things. We have My Pillows and they need to get washed every so often to re-puff themselves, so I did that. It also takes a while for them to dry since they're so dense, so I put them in the dryer on high for 2 cycles, then did 2 loads of jeans since those haven't been washed in...a while. This also included my jean shorts since I don't recall having done those last fall. Once all my pants were done, I stuck the pillows back in for one last dryer cycle since they were still wet. I did sleep on mine last night and didn't feel anything, but mom has hers propped up in her bathroom by the heating vent to finish drying, to be sure there's no moisture left.

Meanwhile, I'd bought frozen cheese ravioli out of the bargain section a few weeks back and realized, with Lent coming, I'd better make this soon. And the store had 3 small cans of basic tomato sauce for $1 in the bargain section this week, so that worked out. I really only needed 2 cans but oh well. After lunch, I set about cleaning my bathroom as I haven't done that yet this year and it was getting unpleasant. Bonus, I discovered the radio on the clock I got from Laura works--and the volume was set to deafening, so I quickly learned how to turn that down. Ahh, it's always nice to have a hair- and dust-free bathroom. By the time that was done, I was ready for a sitting task, plus I kinda overfilled my mop bucket and managed to hurt my back while moving it. I had some computer stuff to do, and I ended up sorting through my backlog of Regular Band music. After last summer, I'd chucked it in a large binder as a holding pattern until I was able to deal with it. The newer stuff had to go into my music spreadsheet, and then the lot of it needed to be filed in the various binders I keep of it. That took close to 2 hours but at least it's finally done!

I have various tasks that I'd like to do regularly, and I have a notebook of such things that I try to consult when I remember--because alas, I don't always remember--and it was really nice to be able to cross off a few things. Every little bit helps. Especially when I know I'm not going to be home next Saturday and it may be some time before I have enough energy to do some of these things.
