The brief phone reprieve
As I've mentioned for a while now, my poor phone is running out of memory. It's been below 200MB for a while, and briefly got counted in KB for a bit; it seemed like I would lose 6MB a day. I'm still not ready to give it up. I haven't yet found a replacement phone...because I still need to look into it...and I haven't gotten all my stuff off of it that I'd want to keep, in part because I'm not sure I want some of it on my iPad, and the demise of Big Sheila's ability to go online isn't helping.
The good news is that I had an epiphany, and in doing so I got back a bunch of MB: Remove my Weather Channel app. I haven't used it in ages, and worse comes to worse, I could just go to the website directly. For a time, it was nice having the app there, but the ads are terrible, and once I stopped being able to update the app, it stopped really doing anything for me. Deleting it caused my available memory to jump to a high enough amount, just about 400MB, that I briefly lost my storage space warning. Honestly, that kind of freaked me out. I was so used to seeing it pop up, for months now, that to not have it was really weird. Don't worry, it came back today. Still, this gives me enough space to keep my phone going for a while, and a little breathing room to decide how to go about getting stuff off of there. Phew. I needed that.
