Christmas in March

I'm going to need at least a day to let my thoughts coalesce, but I can go into what I did on my way home. I left the luncheon at 2:30 and, despite not having used the washroom since I left the house at 8:15, still decided to run a couple errands since I was out. I tend to come straight home after work because I'm not up for shopping, and if it's the weekend and I'm home from the grocery store, I'm not looking to go out again.

I've wanted to get more memory wire since around the holidays, and in fact I put some on my Christmas wish list; I didn't get any. But, you know, I can make Michaels on my way home, so I did. I wandered around for a while, because I've thought about getting floral wire for masks, but it was a lot thinner than I thought it would be. There was some that was PVC-wrapped and was sort of flat, but ultimately I decided against getting any. I already have pipe cleaners and they work okay, and they're thicker than what I'd found aside from the flat style. The last time I was there, which admittedly was a couple years ago, I'd seen a rose quartz bracelet or beads, but I couldn't find them this time around. I've loved rose quartz since I first came across it in South Dakota 35+ years ago and had considered making myself a bracelet if I'd found those beads. I also thought to check for nice photo corners. I use the white, old-style ones for my family pictures, like from my grandfather or great-grandma, but I couldn't find them, only the plastic style. Ultimately, I just got one package of memory wire. I purposely wore the two bracelets I made from the old wire so I could use them to measure sizing, heh. These are the bracelets that used to be on stretch cord that has since degraded.

Down at the opposite end of that strip mall is Bed Bath and Beyond. I've been thinking about getting a Stasher-style bag for these plastic plates I got years ago, something reusable and washable, and I thought to measure the dimensions I'd need to fit said plates into such a bag. As I figured, the Stasher bags aren't correct. I'd need them to be at least 8.5" square and at least one side isn't long enough. The depth only needs to be 1.5" and that's not the issue. These are plates I bought when I had a coworker who would make food, or his wife would bring food, and there were never any plates or silverware. By having my own, that solved that problem, but I'd prefer having a reusable bag to store them in rather than a Ziploc. It's the sort of thing I wouldn't mind throwing in a bag and bringing to a festival, since I have it. Ah well. I know Target has similar bags so at least now I have the measurements. But what I really went there for was something I should've realized at Christmas--I bought my parents towel bars as gifts, but promptly put my towel on one of them. Mom uses the other. Dad still has to leave his on the counter. So, since I was there, I bought him his own towel bar. Dad stuck it on our pots and pans cabinet, and mom immediately took issue--it has two doors, and she thought it looked weird with one bar. It then got moved to the big cabinet next to the stove, which has just the one door since it's in a corner, and she thought that was better. Hey, I felt bad that my father hasn't gotten to use his Christmas gift. And how do you know I was sincere? I bought it without a coupon. Really. This is what happens when you leave the most recent coupon at home, heh. But I was there and didn't want to come back, and at least I accomplished something finally. Now I can finish off those other three bracelets so I have a matching set.

By the way, it was about 4:15 when I got home. Sweet relief.
