Dance like nobody's watching, even when everybody's watching

Today was a weird day. I can't even go into all of it now. However, I saw something on the way home from work--like I said, today was weird--that added levity to things that was most definitely needed.

I was stopped at a light right by work, waiting in traffic, when I noticed a girl on the corner opposite me. She too was waiting for the light, and looked to be a runner or jogger. It's not uncommon to see people like that jogging in place while waiting for the light to change, but she put her own spin on things--she was dancing up a storm. Whatever she was listening to was very joyful and uptempo and clearly gave her energy, and she basically did an entire dance routine to this song. And it must've been a long song, too, or had just started when the light changed, because at no point did she stop or the beat seem to alter; she kept going as if in one fluid motion. And she was completely oblivious to everything around her.

This is unlike anything I've seen outside of small children. This is the sort of thing other people take videos of, because she was clearly in her own world, bopping to music no one else could hear, and completely enjoying herself. She was smiling, she was kicking, she was moving her arms. It was incredible, and made me curious as to what the song was, really. Even when the light finally changed, and it was fairly long, a couple minutes it seemed, she kept on going even as she started crossing the street, holding the cord to her headphones out of the way as she entered the crosswalk.

With everything that has been going on the past few months, and especially the past few days, it was refreshing.
