Band is canceled through April, we don't know about Memorial Day or the summer season yet, blah blah blah. What really intrigued me about this week's check-in email was a video link from AD1 that was titled something like, "Possible summer sax soloist?" Oh, cool. Let's see what this is... And it's this guy, who goes by Leo P., who plays bari sax very...physically. As in he dances and does high kicks while playing. I've seen him before, as a busker in the NYC subway, as well as in an Advil commercial. Bari saxes are not known for being light, easily carried instruments. Our band's bari sax player uses a luggage cart to wheel his case around. See, that's the thing--I wonder if we could get *our* player to do any of that. Now *that* I would pay to see, but understand our bari player is likely older than my father, and equally not as...youthful as Leo P. The body can only do that sort of thing for so long, and if you weren't used to doing it in the first place, it's not likely to do that now. Heck, I probably couldn't do that while playing the piccolo, mostly because I'd break my neck. At least it was amusing. I haven't clicked on many of the links the band has sent out, but I got drawn in by the click-bait-y title. Nice going.
