In a roundabout way

I neglected to mention the roundabout at 47 and Burlington Road in yesterday's post. This was the first time I'd gone to Wisconsin since the roundabout got put in several years ago, probably not long after the last visit to Lake Geneva. We've gone north several times since then--to my cousin's house in Woodstock in 2015, and to Huntley just last year for the baby shower--but both those times we took Randall or some other route part of the way so that we could avoid the roundabout. Mom doesn't know how to deal with those, and I'd rather not experiment with her driving, and if I'm not at camp I'd prefer to avoid them. The good news is that it's not a major thing. I imagine most of the people who deal with this one are on 47 looking to continue down 47 in whatever direction they were going, so you don't have to deal with people going round and round. There was also very little traffic when we were there, just a few other cars. The drawback is going down to 25 MPH on the approach, as 47 has a speed limit of 55 MPH before and after, but once you yield, you make your turns and you're back on 47. I suppose it's better than the full-on stop signs from before--I think there were stop signs before--and people are less likely to blow into the intersection with it there. I think that was part of the situation, that it wasn't a safe intersection at times, so you slow everyone down and you stick a traffic circle in there and you're far less likely to have someone T-bone another. I'm just glad I finally got to experience it after all this time. The ones I've had to deal with in Indiana are worse, especially the one by the Kmart since it's a five-point intersection. And this one was also clearly labeled, with signs telling you exactly which road led to where. Very helpful. It likely also helps that there's basically nothing there, just fields, so it's hard to get confused by anything.
