Not-as-tight pants

For the first time in nearly a week, I was able to button my pants properly. I'm still not sure what to make of what happened last week, when my body rebelled against getting squeezed into my work pants. I had moments of dots of pains in various places throughout the intervening days, plus that feeling in your chest where you can't tell if it's heartburn or something more sinister. I'm trying to get myself moving daily, but the weird feelings have let me go easy on myself, nothing strenuous, just gentle movements. Finally yesterday, I was feeling good enough to try some crunches and things along those lines. You know, the stuff that actually gets results. I'd also decided to temporarily stop the probiotics I'd started taking last Monday, in case that was causing issues. I'd meant to not take them this past Monday, but took one, and then felt weird--in different places--yesterday. Okay, time to stop this little experiment. And you know what? When I woke up this morning, my stomach was flatter than it had been in days, I had no weird pains--Tuesday's had been on my right side, torso, almost making me think it was my arm--and that heartburn-like feeling wasn't there. Hmm. Interesting. I'll likely finish up the probiotic box at some point, but not for at least a week; let's see what else is happening. In the meantime, when I tried on my pants today, I didn't try to squeeze into them, only pulling up the zipper as far as I felt comfortable, which was nearly all the way, then hooked one of the hooks into the buttonhole. I then put on a sweater I haven't worn in a while because, while it's nice and it was a gift from my mom, I know it has a few small holes in it that I need to fix. Except I couldn't remember where the holes were, and I knew it was appropriately long enough, so screw it, I'll wear the sweater. And I realized, because it's kind of snug, that I couldn't leave my pants the way they were--you could see something was funky in that area. Great. But when I tried to close them properly, everything was okay. I had to suck gut all day, but it was fine. Phew. I have lost a couple pounds recently, so that's good, and I'm definitely paying attention to what I'm putting in my mouth. We've had various treats at home and at work, and I'm successfully avoiding them. It's like Lent came early in a lot of ways, aside from still eating cheese.
