It's snowing in here

Week number seventy-gazillion (read: 6) of the roof replacement at work continued. We have now hit the point of legit roof replacement; hopefully our portion will be done soon. Because today, I felt like I was under an air raid this morning. No joke, any time I spoke with people on the phone, I felt like I should apologize--and with good reason. One person (a coworker from the other building) wondered if Godzilla was with me; another (an outside caller) asked if I was at the Indy 500. We could barely hear anything this morning. It was better in the afternoon but still wasn't quiet. And, joy of joys, this was the point where a bunch of crap fell onto the floor. You know, that new carpeting we got at the end of July, just two weeks before this saga started. It's not staining, and the management company came and cleaned it up, but at one point it looked like a minefield--and a really big chunk of something fell from above. There have been these big blocks of styrofoam taking up our parking spots, so now they've hit the installation phase, and the workers have to cut around vents and stuff when installing the styrofoam. This includes removing vent caps and, a couple times, our skylight. That I could tell because you'd hear the workers. I had to admonish them for swearing, since, you know, anyone could walk in at any time. Let's not chance any visitors overhearing something untoward. My one coworker saw an arm through another hole at one point. Well, this is fun. And, when they officially got to the styrofoam, it did honestly look like snow. I kept asking people, do you want to build a snowman? They kept telling me no. But Olaf will make this fun! ...Okay, nothing will make this fun. I'm just glad I have a drop ceiling over my workspace and most of the crap from up above landed on that and not on me. Other people did not have that luxury.

work, roof
