Somehow I knew you'd have it way worse than we would. Just the fact that your store was featured on the front page of the paper was enough. And I can't recall if you told me, but I figured you'd have a midnight release. (Us? Yeah, right, like the mall would volunteer security, and the company would pay it. I think we were lucky to open at 8, but there were definitely mall walkers at that time. And Sears also was open. I wouldn't doubt that Kohls was, too.)

And we, too, had a couple of people who didn't know where their reservations were. One lady who stopped in was totally cool; she'd forgotten where she'd done it, had already been across the street (where they didn't have her name and they'd already run out of books), and tried here, where we had plenty. Although by the time I left I wondered if we'd have enough for our reservations. Hmm. The second person, my boss got on the phone. She swore she'd reserved it online...with us. Well, it was either online, or it was with us. Not both. And she did not get a letter or a phone call from us, either. Lady--pull your head out of your ass. You did not order it through us. She probably did it through Amazon or something, and after all her freaking out it's going to be delivered to her door. Dumbass.

I hate it when you try to sleep and all you dream of is work. I usually get that at Christmastime. Ugh.

And, with that stupid register, I about tried the Cherry method of fixing it. I asked I. if he remembered her, and he's like, yeah, and I said that one time she literally kicked the register and after that it worked fine. I was seriously about to try that. (This would be in the midst of the huge order and equally huge line.) Then he says, "Have you seen Office Space?" I actually have. So he wanted to Office Space said evil register. One customer, who ended up being in that line twice, offered to bring us a bat. Thanks, dude. :) Oh, and I think we determined that I'm too lightning fast for this register and that was part of the problem. I've gotten really, really good at typing in ISBNs, and since I had to plow through 18 items before even getting to what I had left, I started mowing them down. Mr. Register 102 went, uh, no. Yesterday was a day we really could have used our third register. Stupid store in Albany or Buffalo that needed it. Bah.

I hope you don't have to work too long today, and that you get to sit and rest those legs. Poor thing. *hug* I think of you while I'm having one of Erik's porktastic burgers. Hooray for a barbecue to help me mellow out...for this week, I get to finish off the reservation list and finally, finally start on the Learning Library. It's only been, what, three weeks. Oops.
