My car's needed its oil changed for, oh, close to three months now. I know I need to do it, yet I don't get it done. Finally the other day I got an email saying, hey, you should take your car in. I took that as a sign, made an appointment online, and voila! Car goes in.
I had them check on a few things, too. Like, I've been told--by two different people, one a complete stranger--that my taillight was out. It was actually a brake light, but that's a good thing to get fixed. Also, my passenger-side wiper blade was coming apart, which is not so good, so I had them replace those. Remember how my CD player likes to magically turn itself on? I asked about that, and the guy said there isn't anything they can do about it; there's likely a short in the system, and to get it fixed they'd have to take it out and send it somewhere else and it would likely cost $400-$450. Considering I don't even use the thing, I'll just leave it. Besides, that money is better spent elsewhere.
It's always great when you go there and they say, so, you should get this done for $140, and that done for $160, and the other thing for $60, and...the next thing you know, they're recommending $800+ worth of work. Look, I know the car is 11 years old and things start going, but is this something I can hold off on for another month or two? The guy said yes, though he did warn me about an oil gasket that has started leaking and could potentially gush, like, into my car. Oh goody. Well, I won't sit on that *too* long, but not today. I'll see you in about a month or two. Definitely before camp, but not until the next credit card cycle comes along, how's that?
Well, at least I know what to expect. When I get some time to sit and think on things, I can make sense of them better.
