I just got off a marathon phone call with my mom and grandmother--over two hours. Phew. It was so long I almost forgot what I was going to write about today; as it was, I'd been practicing for flute choir but I had to stop when the phone rang and after an hour I realized I wasn't going to get back to it so I cleaned it and put it away. Sad; I'd gotten new music and was only halfway through the second piece. Oh well. At least I don't have rehearsal tomorrow.
Anyway.
It's Lent! Hooray! The day when I realize I can't have the foods I'm used to eating. Seriously, I looked in the pantry and went, can't have that, can't have that, can't have that... And there's even Girl Scout cookies at work, free for the eating, and I can't have them. At least I got some from mom yesterday. They certainly won't be around come Easter.
So, what have I given up this year? Pretty similar to past years--no bread, no sweets, only drinking water, no cheese. I think that's it. Pretty sad that I don't even know anymore, right? It just becomes routine. In recent years I have added something non-food-related, since it's a cop-out to do the same thing over and over again, and I'm giving up not dealing with my email. As in, every day, I have to get rid of one existing email in my inbox, whether I delete it altogether or just move it to a proper folder. So far, so good.
Anyone else participating?
