The world is full of misery and distain, sharp protective barbs like angels with guns. Notice the sadness first, and then enjoy the joy. Living completely in the moment of the bloom will soon take you away from the forest and life with its abrupt and violent consequences.
You will howl that much more then you reach for the rose and cut your hand on the thorns if you don't notice them first. But never be afraid of the thorns - that is as dangerous as just seeing the bloom. When you acknowledge the thorns as they are, and not just react, you will know their requirement in this place, and not a terrible force that hates you.
Remember that there is balance, as blurry as the world can seem, that the brightest day can only be defined because of the dark cold winter, but you’ll never appreciate the clarity of the darkness if you don’t enjoy the blind love of the day.
