Wichita is a Pretty Good City

Apr 09, 2006 03:19

Today Yuriko woke me up around 10 so I could wrangle my hair into compliance, get dressed, wake up Diedra (which really took a double-team of me and Yuriko to do) so that we could go down to Wichita.
We drove down there and Yuriko fell asleep in the car while Deidra and I talked the whole time which is ironic because WE are the ones who didn't even want to be awake in the first place. Ten is much too early on a Saturday. Speaking of which I should run to Blockbuster to turn in JP's movie so I don't have to wake up tomorrow.
Anyway.
We drove down to the part of town that I'm NOT familiar with but we only got lost one time. We ate lunch at a restaurant called Spangles, which is pretty famous in Kansas I guess because their commercials come on TV about every five minutes. They're super annoying, by the way. Anyway, JP had always told us that Spangles food was disgusting, but other people held that the food was delicious. Therefore, we decided we'd never know until we found out ourselves! So I had a kids meal. It included a hamburger and I substituted a pasta salad for the fries which made me feel healthy. Also, cool kids' sunglasses for my toy. w00t. We also took our picture with Elvis. Verdict: The food isn't worth going to Wichita to eat. I'd rather go to Burger King, really.
Next we went and got Yuriko a cell phone! This was very exciting because now she's "in" and Deidra and I can call and text her all we want, especially during this summer when she's going to be working up in Seattle! I'm happy we talked her into Verizon. Tee-hee! I mean, they have good coverage and if she transferres to a college out in Cali, she'll be set. Alltell (KS cell phone company) is roaming in CA.
After that we did lots and lots of shopping. We went to one mall, then to Goodwill (I bought a skirt and purse) and then we went to the other mall. I bought underwear. We went to the nicest store in the mall and listened to piano music (live) and had free trail mix. Oh yeah and Yuriko bought bras.
Let's see, what else did we do. Oh yeah, after getting lost one more time we went to a really freakin' classy Pizza hut. I guess Pizza Hut is doing this new thing called "Pizza Hut Italian Bistro" which is more like a sit-down restaurant. The place was brand new and it made us happy. Even if we did just get a regular grilled chicken pizza. We felt classy and that's what mattered.
We got home around ten and played a board game in the lobby, but by this time I was sick of people so after the game I went back to my room. I borred "Proof" from JP which he had rented at blockbuster, and I really really liked it. Jake Gyllenhaal makes me happy. So cute! I need a man like that.
Anyway, even though it's 3:30 AM, I think I'm gonna go return this movie so he doesn't get on my case about it.
((This post was mainly for Angela because I like reading about her days so now she can read about mine.))
