I'm trying this thing over on my other blog about trying to post something interesting every day. I even made a schedule for it... Monday's a book post, Tuesday's an interior-design show-off post, etc. etc.
For some reason I haven't had the need or desire to post in-depth entries here about my life. Ever since I got married its like I'm more focused on living my life, whether its exciting or boring, instead of just thinking about it. Maybe my life is just so routine now.
I have worked at my job for almost a month (this begins my 4th week if I'm not mistaken) and I absolutely love it. I fit in well with all the girls there and working 5-6 days a week has definitely given me an advantage if not put me higher on the "ladder" compared to the 3 other new hires. I am even comfortable enough with my boss to suggest new ideas (we are now keeping the hot coffee at the end of the day for iced coffee the next day, my idea). My boss said that Doug and I remind her of the days when she and her husband were newlyweds and i take this as a huge compliment because i have a tremendous amount of respect for her.
I've even reached that point where I am living vicariously through others' love life (Justin has a new man in his life) the way that people in long-term relationships often do. Not to say I am unhappy, because I am extremely happy, but the newness of it all is so exciting to watch.
Hosting: I love having people over to my place. Sunday night we had a ton of people over.. it was supposed to be an outdoor grillout but it was insanely windy outside. Unfortunately, all but one who came were male and extremely loud--it reminded me of one of Mike and Barrie's parties. This Friday, Doug and I are hosting a going-away party for our friend
Gina, who is embarking on the
World Race (which really isn't a race at all--it used to be, but they changed the program & kept the old name). We are excited for her and want to give her a good send-off. Everyone attending was asked to bring a food to share from around the world. I hope they all participate and we get a good mix of snacks.
As soon as my background check comes thru, I will be volunteering a few hours a week at
Mt Hope Sanctuary here in McPherson by simply doing paperwork and maybe quickbooks and allowing the staff more time to actually do the "interesting" parts of their jobs while I do the mundane things (which in fact I find very therapeutic). Speaking of Mt Hope, they are having a taco fundraiser tonight which I am serving at. Which means I had better change out of my Amics clothes and get ready to head down there (luckily the building it's being held at is right across the alley from my apartment).
I hope whoever reads this finds it interesting :o)
