Just typed a long entry and somehow by pushing backspace i navigated back to my previous page??? Still trying to get the hang of Google Chrome. It is a lot faster than firefox was on my computer (its fine on everyone else I know's, but horribly slow on this one).
So, as I said before... yesterday I did all the housework for the whole week in one huge spree! This is excellent because not only is my place extremely fresh and clean, but now I won't feel guilty for sitting on my butt playing FF9 or watching Dawson's Creek all week. Also, yesterday I finally got around to finishing my volunteer application I will hopefully be working at (free) a few days a week 3-6pm. It will be perfect because I will get off from Amics at 3pm.
Yesterday the bank sign said it was 110 degrees outside. Yikes. Too hot to go out and do anything, which is kind of sad because I really want to ride my bike or something. The good news is it might actually be too hot for mosquitoes--yesterday evening I went out (still like 98 degrees at 10pm) and didn't get devoured. YAY! Our little air conditioner can't handle this kind of heat. It is constantly around 85 in our apartment, which is kind of terrible, until you go outside and do something... coming back into the apt it feels downright cool.
Yesterday Doug got paid, yay, which only happens once a month (budgeting is very important because of this) and we wrote like 6 checks and sent them out in the mail this morning. Easy come, easy go. Oh, as a result of the heat, he went into work 1 hour early (7 instead of 8) and will be getting off at 4--the boss suggested this because the lab's air conditioner keeps going out and he wants to get as much work done earlier rather than later in the heat of the day. I'm glad cause Doug's coming home early!
After our check-writing spree, we started painting our dining room chairs, which we got for $5 each a few weeks ago. Currently they are blonde wood, but are pretty rough, so we're sanding them down and painting them the same chocolate brown as the kitchen (free paint that came with the apt!). The seats are teal vinyl, and I'm not sure what I want to do with them, so teal vinyl they shall stay for the time being. I'm getting very excited about having money now and we can start painting this place. I don't know how many years and how many tenants it's seen with the current paint, but nobody patches nail/screw holes and there are stains on the walls. I can't wait to see how fresh it looks once we're done!
Oh yeah, and I just checked the mail, and in stark contrast to the 3 bills we got yesterday, today all I got were our tickets to
William Elliot Whitmore Aug. 14th! SO EXCITED. Check his music out. And also his adorable hat and nicely kept beard.
