WHO: Connor ialwayshadasoul, Gwen supertrampgwen
WHAT: Rooftop Conversations
WHEN: 4 April
WHERE: Dienw's Roof
WHY: best pals talk about stuff sometimes. plottyness is love.

Connor sat hidden in the rooftop garden, thankful of that stupid Witch having kept it under an ever-warm charm. Otherwise it'd probably be too cold. She sat leaning back against the low wall, frowning in thought when she heard people coming up onto the rooftop. She rolled her eyes a bit as she listened in on River and Angel's conversation, then raised a hand to shield her eyes from the inevitable debris scattered by Fluffy's massive wings at takeoff.

Gwen managed to sneak her way up to the rooftop without either going inside or being noticed in her less-than-discreet clothing. She wasn't a thief for nothing, after all. "Guess who?" she said with a grin, after sliding her gloved fingers over Connor's eyes. Of course, she figured he'd probably sensed her coming anyway, but that wasn't the point.

"Like I wouldn't recognise your scent," Connor chuckled, smiling behind her hands as she lifted one to pull them down. She tipped her head back to smile at Gwen. "Was wondering when and if you'd show up."

"Just had to scope out a few things first," Gwen replied with a shrug, sliding down to sit next to him...or her, rather. "So what's up with the rack?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Nice, ain't it?" Connor said, arching her back to show it off. "Some disaster thing. I wrote and asked that they fix me last, it's kind of fun being a girl." She grinned.

Gwen rolled her eyes after taking a moment to appreciate it. "Just wait 'til you start bleeding and cramping like all hell for a week straight and then tell me it's kind of fun being a girl," she retorted, wondering if Connor had had the lovely pleasure of experiencing her period yet.

Connor paled, "Uhm... well, hopefully I get fixed before that happens. Unless I got pregnant the other night...." she snorted. "Even the Powers wouldn't be that cruel."

"I wouldn't put it past them," Gwen muttered. "I bet Xander was happy with your new acquisition," she teased.

Connor grinned, "He was incoherent for hours."

Gwen rolled her eyes again. "Of course he was. I wonder what your girl thinks?" Oh yes, she had been stalking the threads.

"She's dealing with her own disaster right now," Connor replied, frowning a bit and glancing in the direction Fluffy had gone.

"Oh yeah, I read about that. The vamp thing's gotta be rough on someone who's already kinda loopy," Gwen replied with a nod.

"It's rough on anyone," Connor replied. "So you really going to help out Zombie-man?"

"Sure, why not? He seems like a nice enough guy, despite his attitude. Us lovable bastards have to stick together, y'know?" Gwen glanced up at the sky, and was quiet for a few moments. "I wouldn't even charge Angel, really, if I didn't have all these mouths to feed."

"I know." Connor frowned, "I should be helping more, not much money in what I do, though - and what I was planning to do kinda fell through," she shrugged.

"Don't sweat it. Things'll pick up again once I've got my own problem sorted out again, I'm sure. I feel kinda bad leaving Nina there all by herself, but it had to be done." Otherwise she'd be a danger to all of them, and Gwen couldn't allow that to happen.

Connor frowned, "You busted the chip, didn't you."

"I didn't bust it!" Gwen protested. "It busted itself." She honestly had no idea how it had stopped working, she just knew that it had.

"Get in a fight?" Connor asked.

Gwen shrugged. "Been in a couple, yeah, but I don't think that was the problem. It was like...it malfunctioned, or something. Accidentally fried a guy." An innocent guy. It had been a long time since that had happened, and it still scared the shit out of her.

"Fatality?" Connor asked quietly, putting a hand on her knee, where there was cloth, of course. She'd been fried by her before, it was uncomfortable.

"Close enough. He's being treated in the hospital...Nina's keeping me updated on his progress." Gwen covered Connor's hand with her own, giving him a grateful look.

"See? He'll be fine, then. Nina'll make sure they don't do anything stupid in order to make it all better. Accidents happen - at least you only hurt one person, remember that. And you pulled away in time before it actually was fatal, okay?"

"...Well, more like I was shoved away. But yeah." Gwen shivered, remembering how completely and utterly in shock (no pun intended) she had been. "I think I'll be keeping these babies on all the time now, even if the chips works again," she murmured, wiggling her gloved fingers.

"Understandable," Connor replied. "Besides, might be kinky," he teased.

Gwen rolled her eyes. "Kinky it may be, but since I can't actually make use of any kinks at all, it's kind of moot," she pointed out.

"Until your chip's fixed," he pointed out. "But after..."

"No way," Gwen responded, shaking her head. "There's always the chance it could happen again, and I don't want to put anyone in that kind of danger. It's like, 'Oh hey, wanna have sex? There's a slight possibility my chip'll malfunction and fry you in the middle of it!' ....Talk about a turn-off."

"I'm sure there's someone out there who won't be effected," Connor replied. "Y'know, like one of those other-fandom vamps maybe."

"Maybe," Gwen shrugged. "Doesn't really matter anyway, I've got my hands full with helping Nina."

"You guys need me to come back?" Connor asked after a long silence.

Gwen smiled slightly. "We always need you there, but you know that. You should prolly stick around here though, considering the whole disaster thing."

"Meh, I can still kick ass as a girl," Connor said, poking at her breasts, "but you're right. At least until it's over. And I've got Xander and River to worry about," he pursed his lips thoughtfully.

"Yeah, you do," Gwen replied, giving Connor an amused look as she poked her breasts. "So what's the story with this girl, anyway?" she wondered, wanting to hear it from Connor instead of just from stalking the journals.

"...She smells right. She's broken, but... fixable, not all the way broken - she fights like a slayer."

"Huh. Did I ever tell you how creepy that smelling thing is?" Gwen teased. "Seriously though...when did you meet her? What was it like? Have you done it yet? What's it like with three people? I want details. I've got to live vicariously, you know."

Connor laughed, bumping her shoulder with Gwen's , the t-shirt protecting from any adverse effects. "She came to one of the Caritas parties, I took her to meet fluffy, then we took down a gang of demons together. No we haven't, she's skittish. Kinda makes me think of Kyten sometimes, gotta be careful if you want to interact with her. It's... Well, I wouldn't know what all the way is like with three, but I imagine it'd be amazing. She tastes as good as she smells, and watching her and Xander kiss can be a little overwhelming. And that sounded incredibly sappy, you have my permission to zap some sense into me at any time, Gwen."

Gwen smiled throughout Connor's explanation, wrapping her arms around her knees. "Nah, I like sappy, contrary to popular belief. It sounds nice."

"I'm not sure what to think about it, mostly," Connor said.

"What d'you mean?" Gwen asked, tilting her head a little.

"Sappy implies things I firmly do not believe in."

"Ah right, the love thing," Gwen replied with a chuckle. "Well, I'm not the best person to convince you otherwise, considering my own opinion on the subject."

Connor snorted. "You're reasonable, unlike the rest of this dimension. Crazy, all of them."

"They're not crazy. They just aren't messed up like us," Gwen countered.

"We're not messed up, we just know better."

"I don't know if it's necessarily better. Sometimes I'd like to believe in love...but then I remember it wouldn't matter anyway even if I did." Gwen shifted awkwardly, obviously not used to actually talking about her feelings about this.

"It's just an excuse made up so people can hurt each other," Connor said.

Gwen frowned. "People hurt each other all the time, excuses or no," she pointed out. "I don't think love's an excuse. I just think the real thing is pretty rare. Looks to me like you've got a lot of it...I'd kill for some of the things you've got."

"Doesn't exist," Connor insisted. "Just other people think it does, is all." He sighed, glancing at her. "If you let yourself live a little dangerously, and don't always worry about whatifs, you could haveit."

"Couldn't exactly have a family," Gwen muttered, shaking her head.

"Bet you could. Genetics is cool like that. If the mother has something that would normally cause fatality in something, she manages to somehow create an environment within herself that would allow the baby to be perfectly safe, maybe even cancel out the whole thing."

Gwen blinked. And blinked again. "Okay, remember the not going to school thing? You totally lost me."

"If you managed to get pregnant, your body would naturally protect your baby from you, quite possibly give your baby a nullifying effect on your power, so you'd never have to worry about touching and hurting her. It only makes sense."

Gwen flushed. "I didn't mean that kind of family. I'd be crap at raising a kid."

"Then there's nothing keeping you from having any kind of family, Gwen."

"Well, there's me," Gwen replied, rolling her eyes again.

"If you want a family," Connor said, waving a hand magnanimously.

"Yeah, remember what happened with mine? They kinda hate me," Gwen reminded him.

"So build a new one," Connor shrugged. "In a way, you already have started."

Gwen raised an eyebrow. "Have I now?"

"The Sanctuary."

"That's not a family, that's a job. An obligation. None of our relationships extend beyond that, and I don't know that I want them to." A strong argument could be made for Nina, but Gwen wasn't going to go down that train of thought.

"Near as I can figure, family means taking care of people," Connor shrugged.

"....Yeah, I guess. But it also tends to be a reciprocal thing, doesn't it? Taking care of each other?"

"Dunno... guess you'd have to let them."

Gwen shook her head again, before glancing at him. "Sorry to be all head-case on you," she apologized awkwardly. "You wanna do something fun while I'm in town?" she asked, clearly trying to avoid the way the discussion was going.

"You're no more of one than I am," she shrugged. "Yeah, what kind of fun?" Connor asked, smirking.

"I dunno. Beating things up. Clubbing. Whatever floats your boat," Gwen replied, returning the smirk with one of her own.

"There's always stuff to beat up," Connor pointed out.

"True enough. I just need to blow off some steam, and those are the only two ways I know how," Gwen explained, stretching her leather-clad limbs a bit.

"WELL, Since River and Angel took Fluffy," Connor stood and stretched as well, "Those really are our only two options."

"Y'know, I think we might make a bit of a scene if we went dancing," Gwen said after getting up as well, and gesturing at Connor's chest. "...Not that I mind," she added as an afterthought.

"No reason why not - I'm not even sure where Xander is nowadays, probably off fixing something or grumbling about things going on with those Slayers."

Gwen shrugged again, not really wanting to bring up more potentially touchy subjects. "Then let's just have a girl's night, yeah?" she suggested with a bit of a grin.

"Sure thing, sounds like a plan."
