yesterday, after i very easily agreed to part with some money for an expensive pasta dish from our caterer, my officemates surprised me with cake, a shirt from people are people, and a multimedia presentation featuring pictures and quotes from people i know. the "dorm girls", which is how the girls around my area refer to themselves, have a tradition of putting up a "production" each time one of us -- those cooped in this corner of the office beside the pantry -- celebrates a birthday. they've been outdoing themselves each time -- from very well-thought out cards to very well-thought gifts, and what they did for me was particularly touching, although, i must admit that as the pictures were revealing themselves, i was very very concerned. i kept saying "san nyo nakuha yang mga yan?" i was almost afraid of the pictures that would appear, especially since quotes and messages from people outside the office were appearing. to be honest, in the thrill of the moment, i couldn't even read properly, and glossed over most of what they said. but then, i realized that with how publicly i've talked about my adventures, and the liberty with which i've posted photographs online, none of that should've been surprising. anyone with some research skills will find me online, and find me very accessible, and well, open.
i really must see the presentation again. i'm now officially outside the 20s zone, and somehow, despite having induced myself to think about the state of things, i haven't quite reached a "natural" realization. i'm just a little preoccupied now with something i did on a whim. i hope this doesn't turn out disastrous. i'll update tomorrow. or at least, try.
and, my thanks to my dorm girls. now i know some of you have been lurking around my blog, and will somehow get to read this. i really appreciate the immense effort you took in doing what you did. i knew you were up to something, but didn't realize it was going to be of that magnitude. it was very sweet.
