acts of defection

all systems go for anawangin, zambales later this saturday with my AMCI friends. ogie and i are guests to B2K2’s outing, and i am admittedly quite excited. i saw pictures of the beach, and they’re very pretty.

however, PSI’s batch pasaway! is having its own outdoor camp later today in manabo, the same mountain i was just at the other weekend. and so my decision to push through with zambales has prompted my batchmates to call me a defector. well, there are few things that really irritate me, and one of them is people who do not follow through; guys who are big on plans, but even bigger in changing them at the last minute. this is precisely the same reason why i went to sagada alone, why i went to batanes alone. because the best laid plans are made better when you stick to them.

after weeks of futile invitations, i’ve decided to look for activities of my own. and i incidentally found this AMCI thing. too bad the manabo invitation came after i had said yes to my friends. but assuming i hadn’t planned on going to anawangin, i’d still think twice about going to manabo, because i don’t much like big crowds. not that this trip is going to be intimate. AMCI is known for sending fleets to the mountains, and in this group alone, there are already more than 30 of us. our group is the biggest, with 14, and my tent will be filled to bursting, with 6 guys.

at the office the other day, i was going through the records of one case which is taking me to tuguegarao next week for 4 days. suddenly, one of the regional officers pays me a visit to ask about my itinerary, and serendipitously (and also suspiciously), one of the parties phones him, and he hands me the phone. this is part of our conversation:

party: eh meron ho akong certification na filed out of time yang kasong yan. at forged pa yung mga pirma.

what an asshole this guy. for that, i’m already leaning towards the other party. accuse me of corruption will you!
