Pakistan has since backpedaled from the statements about Osama bin Laden. Who believes them? I'm rather skeptical, myself. What's really going on here, I suspect, is that the Pakistani government just sold the US down the river. This is hardly surprising, if you know anything about Pakistani politics. And you know what that means? Osaman bin Laden won, or at least, didn't lose.
