I finally finished grading all my classes. The scores have been sent to the registrar. The homework assignments and exams and textbooks are packed away in my backpack to haul up to the school.
I am seeing the first of the panicky emails from students in my inbox today.
I still have all the letters of recommendation to write. 6 of them and counting. I received 2 more requests today once the grades were posted. I tried to bow out. I tried to argue that I couldn't write a strong letter since I could only comment on their performance in my class. But they persisted. It was "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi! You are my only hope!"
I think I will enjoy the rest of the day with videogames and making cookies. Letters can wait until tomorrow.
Yesterday Sensei invited us over to his place to celebrate the 307th anniversary of the 47 ronin. We celebrated by watching a (long) film about the event, drinking sake, and walking uptown for a sushi dinner. Only two other students could make it so it was a nice cozy affair.
It was awesome! It was a great way to celebrate - both the intended anniversary and the fact that I had finished grading for my two big classes (45 students and 29 students). I still had the Animal Assisted Therapy online continuing education class stuff to grade (which I did this morning), but it felt like the worst was out of the way.
