Today I had a nice phone call with the woman from General Motors R&D for whom I ran the workshops last Spring.
It was interesting to learn what life is like at the Tech center with the current upheaval in the company.
It was also nice to know that she still finds the analogy technique she learned in the workshops to be very useful. In fact, she told me (unprompted even) that she used it all the time for her work and that it was especially useful for facilitating communication between individuals from different professions about current team projects.
Yay.
I think it is pretty cool stuff too.
I'm going to be presenting my latest analogy research at the Psychonomics conference this Friday. I am planning on making the talk a call to action for applying what basic research on analogy over the past 28 years has taught us to issues of importance such as facilitating creative problem solving.
I guess I had better put the finishing touches on that talk tomorrow and complete about 100 other "to do" items before I leave Thursday.
