The sun was setting somewhere behind clouds the color of charcoal as Callie settled down onto the bed beside Arizona. Arizona was busy devouring the Orange Chicken that Callie had presented for dinner, but she looked up as Callie began arranging pillows to make herself comfortable. Arizona had never seen her looking so tired and worn. The sparkle of eternal  youth was still in her eyes but Callie's face seemed to have taken on a chalky complexion. Her hair was far longer than it had been in Arizona's time with her. It was as though Callie had given up all thoughts of taking care of herself and had begun to simply exist, rather than live. Arizona did not like that in the slightest. It disturbed her that the woman she loved with such fire and passion had worn herself out to the point where she had aged before her time.

All thoughts of Orange Chicken slid away as Arizona focused her attentions on Callie. Sitting beside her, Arizona ran her slender fingers through Callie's unkempt hair. Placing kisses across her temple "Wanna talk about it?" Callie went to shake her head, Arizona knew this was her way of keeping stress from Arizona's life at the moment but Arizona wasn't going to sit by as her lover, her partner and friend suffered. "Come on, tell me. I need something to distract me from my now daily date with your Mother and daytime Soap Opera's. I'm going mad Calliope. You don't want me to go mad... Again... do you?" Fluttering her eyelashes and snaking an arm around Callie's midriff Arizona put on the best pout she could muster and begged Callie to open up instead of shielding.

"The new interns started today." Callie's exasperated huff told Arizona that the new prospects weren't all that good. She also knew that it was their first day. They would be eager, excited and prone to mistakes. She herself had mixed up a chart on her first day and accidentally sent a migraine patient for an enema. She still giggled at the thought of that one. "One girl managed to stitch a woman's fingers together. Luckily the woman was too busy screaming at her husband, for slamming her fingers in the car door, to notice. But geez Arizona, how do you stitch fingers together?! I question the standards that the med schools have when handing out passing grades." Callie shook her head and rolled her eyes. A motion that Arizona found to be more adorable than she could put into words. "Then, this weedy little guy, kinda reminded me of George, told a woman that she had Legionnaires Disease, when really she had Pneumonia. Slight difference... Took me over an hour to get her calmed down. Thats the last time I take charge of the Pit when the new intake are on the loose." Arizona was finding all of this amusing but didn't dare laugh. Callie needed to vent and Arizona was determined to stay silent and supportive.

Callie reached for a Spring Roll from the carton and popped it into her mouth with such ferocity that Arizona wondered if she were picturing it as an intern's head. "As if the interns weren't bad enough, I had Mark on my case all day. He freaked out as he found a lump on his back. Turns out it was a zit. Then he harassed me all afternoon as he never gets them. I swear, he is more like a child than any child I have ever met. And to top it all off I spilled coffee all over my shirt. Thank god for emergency spares in my locker." Callie began rubbing her eyes. Arizona knew she was worn out. Running on fumes.

"Lets run away. Just you and me. We have those tickets to Hawaii. Lets go out there, buy a nice little cottage by the beach and spend the rest of our days relaxing in the sun and pretending that we are the only two people on earth." Arizona punctuated her request with tender kisses across Callie's cheek and a featherlight touch of Callie's hip. Callie tilted her head down to gaze into Arizona's eyes and smiled, it wasn't a happy smile, more one that was intended to humor Arizona.

"Even if we could run away, you are in no condition to. And we have responsibilities here." Arizona curled her lips and frowned.

"Responsibilities... Pfft. We are responsible to ourselves. And I will have you know that I am perfectly capable of running away. I almost made it away from your mother today. Unfortunately she collared me half way down the hall when Ali started barking to play. Foiled again thanks to those meddling kids and their dog." Arizona shook her head playfully and curled up tighter to Callie's side. "Seriously though I am fine. I was fine when I apparently played all those tricks on you. Wish I could remember those. I bet you looked hot as Princess Jasmine." Arizona winked and moved her hands to suggestively stroke at Callie's chest. Callie swatted her hands away playfully and slipped off the bed.

"You are not fine. You won't even talk to the therapist. You went through an horrific ordeal and here you are acting like everything is perfectly normal. That is not fine Arizona."

Arizona's temper was beginning to rear its head. Despite her best efforts to restrain it. "Look, it was horrific, but Calliope I am alive, well and a mid thirties woman with a stunning fiancee and too much time on my hands. I am ok. Honestly. If it wasn't for you stationing Bailey at the hospital entrance, I would be tempted to ask the Chief if I can go back to work. I am going to go more insane here doing nothing but listening to your mom waffle on about the latest drama's in All My Children than I would going back to work. I'm getting Cabin Fever. No work and no play makes Arizona a very, very cranky girl. Please, please, let me at least take the car and go to the store to buy shampoo. Your mom keeps getting the wrong stuff and its making my hair look like straw. I'm begging you Calliope... Let me break out of Camp Torres for just a day... Like for Good Behavior or something. I've been good, really good... I even allowed your mother to give me a manicure. If you loved me you'd let me escape." Arizona tilted her head down and looked up from under her lashes. "Please."

Callie was stood with her arms folded across her chest but Arizona could see that her magic was working. Callie was gulping, and squirming. Not exactly what she had intended but if she could somehow manage Callie to allow a little 'play' then that would be even better than going to the store. She turned on the charm as she crawled across the bed towards the edge where Callie was stood and sat up on her knee's. Wrapping her arms around Callie's neck and chewing the corner of her lip. Arizona couldn't see herself but she knew it must have looked fantastic. Time to seal the deal she thought "Please."

Callie wrapped her arms around Arizona's waist and pressed their lips together. It was heavenly for them both as their breathing first softened then grew anxious and desperate. Arizona couldn't believe her luck. Finally she was getting something she wanted. Callie's hands roamed across Arizona's back, tilting her backwards towards the bed. It was at that moment that Arizona felt a twinge of pain and winced. It was nothing major, just one of those stiff unused muscle pains but it was enough that when she opened her eyes, Callie was gazing down at her with an amused expression. "Nope. No store for you." Arizona let out an exasperated sigh as Callie lowered her to the bed. Callie hovered above her, then slowly lowered herself to begin kissing Arizona's neck. "But if you are a really good girl, I'll let you exercise in the yard for an hour a day." Arizona's head began to swim as the reality of the fantasy struck home. Callie's lips moved over her collar bone as Arizona whispered "Oh I will be a very very good girl."
