Silently the Little Dragon slips through the plastic butcher shop like panels that acted like a door. Classical opera played on a record somewhere in the lab. Out of site and out of mind she slinked up next to the large Nos. He hummed along with the song as carefully removed the liver of the cadaver that lay on the table. This obviously wasn’t the kind of lab to be working on live people. Fly’s buzzed over a pile of meat in the corner, the corpse’s blood dripped off the table, onto the floor and worked its way to a drain in the floor. Some of the tools where the usual surgical ones, then you had the more improve ones such as the safety pins, hack saw (with Home Depo price tag still attached), vice grips, clamps from jumper cables, and a steak knife. She looked up at him and flashed him an invisible smile. He still bore her brand mark over his left eye and cheek.

He turned towards her, moving to place the organ on a table with several others. Quickly she pulled out the larger syringe from her jacket pocket. In the blink of an eye she forced it through his chest and into his heart. In the same blink of an eye he lodged the scalpel through her throat. There was that awkward silence between the two, like walking in on your husband having sex with your mom awkward. Seconds flew by as they blinked at each other. She shifted her fingers, pulling the plunger back and filling the syringe. His hand twitched, fighting the urge to twist the scalpel.

“I need it for an experiment.” She chocked out around the blade.

“You could have just asked.”

“When have I been known to ask for things? Plus, you like it better this way.”

The large Nos cracked a smile. She removed the needle and capped it before placing it into her pocket. He pulled out his scalpel with a spurt and stuck it into the liver that her still held onto.

“Do I even want to know what you’re up to?” He asked. Again she just smiled at him and vanished from his mind. He sighed and went back to humming along to the opera as he dissected the organ. The Little Dragon silently slipped back through the plastic panels with her prize.
