something im working on

embrace the cold black night. it reflects your heart quite well.
lying on the rooftops of the city reminiscing about when we were young.
when life was easy and we were as pure as the endless azure sky.
when innocence poured down on us like a light afternoon shower.
and we were too full of life to sit still for an hour.

remember those twilight moments sitting in the big oak tree.
watching the sun drift behind the treeline beyond the silver lake.
as the fireflies and moonlight graced us with their gentle presence.
where you'd fall asleep and i'd hold you close and wouldn't let you go.
and i used to be so in love with you but i never told you so.

we need to remember no more.
forget about this somehow.
there's nothing left for us now.
not like there was before.

there are no second chances.
we had a childhood to live.
all we can do now is forget.
and hope that we forgive.

awaken to a warm bright day. it contrasts your heart quite well.
as the rising sun melts away memories of when we were young.
the rooftops are crumbling and the city is dying now.
life is rough and as uncertain as a hurricane.
where innocence is scarce like water admidst a drought.
and we're too lazy to listen so we have to shout.

we need to remember no more.
forget about this somehow.
there's nothing left for us now.
not like there was before.

there are no second chances.
we had a childhood to live.
all we can do now is forget.
and hope that we forgive.
