IC Information:

Name: Megara

Fandom:  Disney's Hercules

Timeline: Mid movie; when Meg's struggling with her feelings for Hercules. After her musical number to be exact.
Age: Unspecified in canon, I assume late twenties (23-25)

Appearance: Megara is a lithe, slender woman, with insanely weird curves. Some could describe her as being shaped like a greek vase when it comes to her curves. She's around the normal height for women, coming up within the 5'2 range, unless you count her high pony tail and jutting out 'bang', which pushes her into the 5'3 range. Meg's hair can be described as long, a deep brown color and curly in places, curling primarily at the ends when its pulled up with her usual orange hair tie into a pony tail. When its let loose curls are pretty much a given. Clothing wise, she tends to prefer wearing purples and pinks, favoring a loose easy to move in stola with a matching sash on her waist with its own golden clasp it all held together by golden brown clasps at the top of her stola. She tends to wear easy to lace sandals meant for running over looking pretty.

Abilities: Megara is just an normal everyday woman, she has no real powers or special abilities unless you count her scathing sarcasm as something to be hailed.

Personality: Megara is a cynic at best, distrustful loner at her worst. She has never been a people person for most of her life, with the betrayal of her trust by a man she considered her 'true' love- its soured Meg considerably on men and romance as a whole. She can't help but carry that cynicism/distrust with her when she goes about her daily life, viewing the world in a guarded manner, trying to keep herself closed off in order to keep from getting hurt again. This heaped onto her already independent streak just makes Meg considerably dour and preferring distance from people over company of others. She'd much rather handle any problem thrown at her on her own, help is something she won't ask for easily, even when Hercules 'mends' her heart in her source material, Meg is still very MUCH Meg. She can stand on her own regardless of what anyone says or does.

Even with that- Meg still has a heart, buried deep down in her, she still has some sense of trust in people. Primarily softening her shields when she sees a reflection of herself in someone. It usually earns some of her concern and care. Even then, Meg is still openly leery of people's actions, less than trusting, unless you somehow work your way into her good graces.

She has a strong sense of right and wrong, Meg is more than willing to step in to fix a problem she personally caused. She is no hero, but she will always make up for what she's done personally over blindly jumping into something she's not involved with. Even if she believes in being fair/that good will win the day/yadda yadda- it doesn't mean she's a gallant hero, she's selfish and petty like anyone else. She prefers to look out for her own self interests over trying to save everyone.

Best one can say of Meg, her bark is worse than her bite.

History: Not too much is really known about Meg. Her history is shrouded beyond the basic myths and what can be gathered from the Hercules TV show. I'll exclude the TV show for now since it didn't specify much beyond who she possibly sold her soul for. Its all very iffy and mostly fanon over canon.

The basic trappings of the movie go as follows: Meg fell for a guy hard, put every piece of herself into loving this man, dreamed silly dreams, wanted to be with him forever-

He died unexpectedly.

Instead of going to pieces like any love sick fool would do, Meg quickly scrambled a plan together, somehow confronting Hade's the god of the underworld and striking up a bargain with him. She'd give him her soul in servitude in exchange for her boyfriend's soul. If he could live again she would work for Hades for a few years.

Meg soon found out that- this was an ill advised plan, her lover boy, the man she saved- ran off with another woman, leaving Meg with a broken heart and toiling under Hade's as a minion.

A few years later, she meets Hercules, dashing, heroic- as well as a complete goof ball. She's not sure what to make of him beyond open amusement since he's a clod when it comes to saving people. His attempt at saving her from a centar- turned out rather silly instead of actually dashing.

Meg was only surprised to find out later on- that her employer Hades would quite enjoy Hercules dead over alive. She able to enjoy a lovely montage of failed attempts at defeating the demi god. Hercules honest victories and general warmth slowly charming her more than his attempts at being suave earlier on. Hades took notice of this when he was finished raging, deciding Meg would be a good way to finally find out what weakness Hercules could possibly have. Meg unhappily agreed when he offered her the chance at freedom. The brunette reluctantly taking the offer as she went to wine and dine the demi god. Slowly working her way into his good graces over the course of a day.

Soon enough, Meg found herself falling for Hercules while he was falling for her. It presenting her with a solid problem.

What should she do? Protect the man she was falling for or obtain her freedom?

She choose to protect Hercules, pleased to at least know- he had no apparent weaknesses. None she could really see. Until Hades clearly showed her- she was his weakness. It leading to a talk between Hades and Hercules. Meg used as leverage to trick Hercules out of his powers. Hercules being lovesick readily agreed, only with Hade's word that Meg would remain unharmed. Hades agreeing, saying Hercule's powers would return if a single hair on Meg's head was out of place. Hercules finding out only moments later that Meg had been working for Hades the entire time.

It left the couple in the city of Thebes while hades kicked his plan off, taking over Olympus with the now freed titans. Hercules managed to defeat one of the titans Hades sent back to Thebes with his wits while Meg showed her love was true by saving Hercules from being crushed under a pillar. Her fatal injury giving the demi god his powers back.

Meg stayed on earth, waiting for Hercules while the demi god flew up to save Olympus, her injuries killing her before he could return to her. This driving the grief stricken Hercules to charging down to the Underworld to bring her back to life. Once again he struck a deal with Hades, his life in exchange for Meg's. His willingness to sacrifice his own life for his finally granted Hercules his dream, to become a god. He only finding out- his real dream was Meg. The movie ending with them going back to earth and celebrating their life and victory over Hades.

Roleplay Sample - Log: Meg paused, she only able to shake her head some as she realized where she was headed. Her feet automatically taking her to the lush 'romantic' gardens tucked in the sea side corner of Thebes. This happened every time she let her mind wander. She would just start walking and found herself in front of the entrance of the gardens.

"Why do I keep doing this to myself?" Was all she could ask herself as she turned back around. Sandals quietly moving over the worn down dirt path as she headed back to her villa. She bit back the urge to ask herself the question aloud once more. It all she could say to finding herself at the gardens.

The hurt was dull by now, but it still resided solidly in her chest. It wasn't something she could just toss away, no, not with what happened. Love had gotten her in this mess, blindly believing that it was something worth while- it had ruined everything.

She couldn't forget.

Meg promised herself she'd remember, so it could never happen again.

She wouldn't love anyone, wouldn't let anyone be close. She was better off alone anyway. She was safer like this, in a quiet empty villa, alone and safe.

She would never be hurt again, not if she could help it.

Roleplay Sample - Journal: You think I'd know better by now. Maybe learned something with this whole 'working for the lord of the underworld' endeavor I've been stuck with for the past few years. You think something would've stuck in some way.

But- no, apparently not.

I can't stop myself from thinking about that big lug. His goofy smile, his need to do good, his blue eyes, that laugh- gods that laugh.

Okay-

Okay.

Stop that. Right now.

I can't be doing this.

I can't be. I can't fall in love.

I can't.

He seems nice now, but he's like every other man out there, when I stop being interesting Hercules will leave me behind. That farm boy charm is an act, I know if one girl just bats her eyes at him in just the right way he'll go stumbling after her using the same routine to get into her stola. Just like he did. Men are all the same.

Why am I even agonizing over this? Its pointless, I.don't.love him. I don't.

I just need to find out his weakness and I'm free. I can finally leave this city, these people and all the memories behind. Easy as putting the pocket in pita. I flirt, I talk- bam, I get what I need and he's left to Hades. No guilt. No shame. A job well done and freedom. Something thats finally mine.

Questions? Comments? Crazed and creative statements?  Those go here. Even if I'm not including the the TV show in her basic history, I am including a lot of the culture we're shown IN the series. All the parodies, anachronisms and silliness abounds. I will draw a little from the myths as well, at least give Meg some grounding since she literally has no back story beyond a broken heart. Along with that, ffft, I would probably use a few greek words. Stola for example.
