So, I'm in New York City.
Life is good.
My internship had been hell before fashion week. But now that is over, and life returns to normal. I'm currently deciding if I want to get a part-time job. But I may not since I already planned to not have any income for the first three months of my New York experience.
I'll be looking for jobs soon. If anyone has leads in the NYC fashion industry, please let me know.
Highlights of my New York experience thus far:
-The High Line the day after the big blizzard last Saturday. It was a miles-long trek through hip deep snow. My hands still feel kind of weird. I think they might be mildly frost-bitten. Oh well.
-Meeting Marc Jacobs on the elevator on my first day of work, turning me into the nerdiest intern of all time. But he was really nice, so it worked out.
-The fashion show afterparty. Dita von Teese was there. So was Winona Ryder, Sofia Coppola, and some other folks.
-I visited a sex dungeon on the 7th floor of a building in Soho. There was no torture being performed by the dominatrices at the time, but I can say I've seen the inside of one of those places. Crazy.
-I spoke to Venetia Scott, who is one of the most intimidating women on earth. She is amazing.
-Francis surprising me by just showing up at our apartment for four days in the midst of the intense work. (The downside of this was the stomach virus that incapacitated me for two of those four days.)
-I worked 21 consecutive 14-18 hour days.
Wait a minute, that last one was not a highlight, but rather a testament to my toughness.
