Meet Kim. January 6, 2005 (cap)
If you're reading this, it's likely you know Kim, but it's also possible you don't. It's also possible you think you know her, but you really have no idea who or what she is.
This is here to educate you. This is here to outline Kim's three-year internet charade, in which she was not only the main player, but two others as well. The one most are acquainted with is known as "Jasper", but we'll get to her. For now, let's focus on Kim herself.
The journal impasse was created on November 3rd, 2004, but things don't start to get interesting until 2006, when Kim discovered the wonderful world of LJ roleplaying.
She joined entranceway around September 2006 (she did not make an intro post, but the earliest comment I can find from her in the OOC community is dated September 18, 2006 (cap) and her first entry for Celine is dated September 3, 2006 (cap)) as Celine Jules, primeprayer, from Star Ocean. Not long later, she, as most roleplayers do, picked up a second character: Tseng, enigmatic_ego, from Final Fantasy VII. All seemed normal. Then, on October 7, 2006, she picked up Luxord (cap), stackthedeck, from Kingdom Hearts II.
This is the first instance of her introducing and referring to herself as Shadow. Kim is the first and main player. Shadow is the second of Kim's three personalities.
At this point, though, Kim does not yet have the hang of managing multiple names, and at this point, Shadow may still have just been a nickname for herself and not a different person, as evidenced five days later, October 12, 2006 (cap), when she introduced herself again as Kim, Luxord's player. Then, again, two days later this time, on October 14 (cap) as Shadow. Further, another player addresses Luxord (Shadow) as Tseng's player on October 20 (cap) and then another addresses Celine (Kim) as Tseng's player on November 1 (cap). Kim later uses her personal journal to drop Tseng on November 15 (cap), further revealing Kim, not Shadow, as Tseng's player.
Confused yet? Let's throw in Xemnas, firstsilence, introduced October 27, 2006 (cap) (conveniently?) without a player being mentioned.
And this is where it gets even more confusing. On October 28, 2006 (cap), Celine (Kim) proposes an event for which she needs volunteers. Xemnas, whose player at this point is unknown, volunteers. Kim, using her personal journal, thanks Xemnas and Saix's players for volunteering. It would appear Xemnas is not played by Kim, correct?
Wrong, because three days later, on October 31, 2006 (cap), it is revealed that Kim is actually Xemnas's player. This is reiterated November 21 (cap), when Kim is referred to as the player of both Xemnas ("Xiggy's boss") and Celine. And remember the screenname doublechances being Shadow's? Well, now it's Kim's too (cap).
Told you she didn't quite have the hang of it yet.
Then, on December 24, 2006 (cap), Jasper, Kim's third and final personality, is introduced, playing Roxas, onein_thirteen, from Kingdom Hearts II. From her introductory entry, it is obvious Jasper is meant to be an entirely separate person, not handled clumsily like Shadow was. She even has a personal journal, yahsgirl, created December 5, 2006. Kim is starting to get the hang of it now. This is where the fun begins.
Kim rushes into 2007 headlong, with Shadow now a separate personality, evidenced January 4, 2007 (cap), with Luxord (Shadow) responding to Celine's (Kim) post in a way that would imply they are not the same person. Kim also mentions only playing two characters, Xemnas and Celine. The very next day, January 5 (cap), Luxord (Shadow) proposes an event. And then, on January 7, the division is complete. Shadow introduces Xehanort (cap), hypothesize, from Kingdom Hearts II, and Kim brings back Tseng (cap). In Shadow's entry, it is evident that Kim and Shadow are no longer meant to be the same person. Remember the screenname lemon and paeroa?
On January 12, 2007 (cap), Jasper drops Roxas. In the comments to her drop post, Jasper, Kim and Shadow all interact as separate people. Jasper disappears for a month. Kim and Shadow take conveniently timed hiatuses near the end of January, for vacation (cap) and moving house (cap), respectively.
Then, on February 7 (cap), Jasper returns with Roxas using a new character LJ, unbidden. Around this time, there is a surge of Kingdom Hearts roleplayers joining; Namine, Axel, and Riku, with Sora, Zexion and Lexaeus joining the month before. With a larger cast, there is more incentive for Roxas, and Jasper, to stay.
On February 19, 2007 (cap), Jasper posts a friending meme for players to friend each other with their personal LJs. Kim posts (cap) with impasse, and we learn that Shadow's personal LJ (cap) is rationalise, which she deleted some months ago, so unfortunately the creation date for it is lost. Strangely, despite posting the meme, Jasper does not start a thread for herself or comment on any other threads. On February 21 (cap), she posts hiatuses for Kim and Shadow using her Roxas LJ.
February 25, 2007 (cap), Shadow, now playing Lexaeus, rocktheearth, from Kingdom Hearts II, says she is "jetting to New Zealand", implying she does not live there. Plus, it is only for a week, and for a class. Yet, somehow, she posts an event on March 1 (cap), only five days later, and comments extensively. She does the same on March 3 (cap).
March 18, 2007 (cap), Jasper introduces DiZ, wiserone, from Kingdom Hearts II. She has still not yet used her personal LJ in the OOC community.
She does, finally, on April 20, 2007 (cap), on an entry announcing her and the Riku's player flying up to Wellington, New Zealand, to stay with Kim during an anime convention. Her personal LJ is enables, created March 17 of 2007 (she deleted this lj from March 26, 2009 to April 8, 2009).
As an aside, Riku at that time was played by a girl calling herself alternatively Punky and Ash. Her real name is Ashleigh. Ashleigh is Kim's sister. Her personal LJ is charmalicious, and she has a bebo. It is difficult to compose a proper timeline without this vital information, so I will delve into Kim's family life now, instead of leaving you, dear reader, in the dark.
Kim has a sister and brother. At this point, I am not certain of Kim's real age (though she claims to be 21), but her sister Ashleigh is 18, born in July of 1990. Their brother is younger, though I do not know by how much. When I met him in August 2008, he appeared around 11 or 12.
Kim's parents are divorced, though I do not know when it happened. Kim lives with her mother and mother's boyfriend, and Ashleigh and their brother live with their father. I do not know where their father was living at the time of the above entry, though I assume it was on NZ's south island, in Dunedin, as Jasper and Kim have posted from IP addresses there and in Christchurch, and in an e-mail in July of 2008 Jasper told me she had lived in Wellington for around a year, having moved there from Dunedin. As of August 2008, their father was living in Wellington, though I am not certain which part, and their mother was living in Lower Hutt, just outside of Wellington.
Ashleigh plays along with Kim's identities, and even had a second one of her own, playing both Riku and Kairi at Entranceway for a short while.
Back to the April 20, 2007 post, what likely actually happened was Ashleigh and Kim flew up to Wellington from Dunedin to stay with their mother.
June 11, 2007 (cap), Jasper picks up Rafe, doublechances, from Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis/Last Order. Hmm, why does that name sound familiar?
In the summer of 2007, an AIM chat was started for Entranceway players to hang out in OOC. Most of the regulars were on every day, for hours. Unfortunately, for this, all you have is my word, but very rarely were Kim, Jasper and Shadow online simultaneously. Kim was actually rarely online at all, and quite often Jasper would sign on moments after Shadow signed off. I remember commenting on this a few times in passing, and I believe others did as well. At any rate, this is significant because it melded the regulars into a tight group of friends. It is also significant for another reason.
On July 28, 2007 (cap), Jasper announced she was going to America--Michigan, specifically--to visit Shadow. She left after August 13 (cap). Yet somehow, two days later, August 15 (cap), she and Kim changed ownership of Xemnas and Xaldin's journals, then Jasper picks up a new character on August 20 (cap). And remember the AIM chat? Any regular at that time can attest to the fact that despite supposedly being on the other side of the world visiting Shadow, she was constantly in chat and still RPing as much as she usually would. When asked why she was on the computer instead of out with Shadow, she would say Shadow was ignoring her; basically shoved a laptop at her and told her to amuse herself. Shadow was often out, as well, leaving Jasper at her house for God knows what reason. She would later (mid-2008) tell me they had a falling out because of this. And then on August 21 (cap), Riku changed hands from Ashleigh to Shadow.
On September 12, 2007, I started dating Jasper.
My perception of time gets muddied here, but I will do my best to relay what happened between us as far as is important. It's mostly hearsay from this point, so bear with me, please.
Around the time Jasper and I started dating, she gave me her cell phone number. I used it to call her several times and text her often over the next year or so. She gave me her address, to which I sent letters and occasional gifts, which I saw when I visited her and the one time we spoke on webcam. We'd talk on Skype once in a while, though despite Kim moving in with her around the beginning of 2008, she never spoke to me and I never heard her voice, the the background of a call or otherwise. Jasper would often say she was out, at school or with friends. Getting Jasper to send me pictures of her was nigh impossible; like pulling teeth, and we would have horrific fights over it. She claimed it was because she hated the way she looked, or because she couldn't find her camera, or her camera cord, or her camera batteries died, even though she could post pictures of random crap in her house. I did eventually get a few pictures from her; one even had Kim in it. Looking back at it now, the girl that's supposed to be Kim looks like she could be Jasper's sister or cousin. It is not Ashleigh, however. To this day I still do not know who she is.
Jasper dropped out of school at 16. She had a brother who died at a very young age. Her parents were abusive, she said--when I had been dating her for roughly two or three months, she told me she saw her mother at a wedding and her mother, not having changed at all, threw her down, breaking her wrist--and she moved out at the same time she dropped out of school. She got by on the kindness of friends and worked to support herself. She had know Kim since childhood; roughly ten years. Kim's family had helped Jasper as though she were their own daughter. Remember Jasper's introductory post? Does it seem that way to you? I was told Jasper's real parents basically stalked her, or at least her mother did, calling her constantly and showing up for unexpected visits. She said she had called the police on her mother before and attempted to get restraining orders, despite friending her on Facebook and interacting with her on it frequently.
Kim went to school and Jasper worked. Jasper had a string of bad roommates (for some reason they all seemed to end up having sex in her kitchen, which would result in her kicking them out) until finally Kim moved in with her. They paid rent on their small house with Jasper's wages and an allowance Kim got from her parents. In the time I was dating Jasper, however, she was frequently unemployed, not only for days or weeks but often months at a time. I did ask her about this, as well as several other aspects of her personal life that did not make sense to me. She was often a clothing store manager, but when I broke up with her she was an apprentice at a bakery. Which she could somehow e-mail me from and chat on AIM. For hours. At a bakery.
About a month before I flew to New Zealand to visit Jasper, we broke up. It is still my belief that she was trying to sabotage us; maybe out of guilt for lying to me, maybe just to mess with me, or maybe because she wasn't prepared to hide everything properly for a visit yet. A few days after we broke up, she completely lost her mind. Completely. She signed off AIM to avoid me. I e-mailed her, and it went downhill from there. She threatened suicide. Terrified, I e-mailed Kim to see if she could calm her down. Kim rushed home and later told me Jasper had cut her arms, though not too badly. Jasper was seeing a therapist at this time, and so was I. I told my therapist about this outburst, and he told me it was likely she would be committed to a hospital for suicide watch for a few days. Despite telling me she visited her therapist the next day and told him what happened, she was not committed. When I finally saw her a few weeks later, there were no traces of cuts on her arms.
She also told me that her therapist had put her on Effexor in April of 2008, but it was making her physically ill and causing intense moodswings. I told her to talk to her psychiatrist about it, because I had known people on Effexor and they had also had bad reactions to it, and my own therapist said it wasn't a very good medication. She told me later he took her off of it. Not long after, she told me she had started a new medication. When I asked her what it was, she told me Venlafaxine. Venlafaxine is the scientific name for Effexor. When I asked her what was up with that, she said she didn't know they were the same medication and became evasive. After that, the subject of her therapy and medication became very touchy, to the point where I avoided talking about it completely.
I visited her for five days in August of 2008. This is me (on the left) with the girl I met as Jasper. Look familiar? Look again. These pictures were taken August of 2008. This picture was taken September 20, 2008 (cap), and found on Ashleigh's bebo account. Note the caption.
At the time, she said she had three roommates: a male and female I never learned the names of, and Kim. For the five days I was there, I was told Kim was staying at a friend's house over an hour away, studying for her exams. Jasper didn't know where her male and female roommates had gone, but Kim's mother, Gillian (coincidentally also the name of Jasper's mother), and Gillian's boyfriend stayed with us the whole time. I was told it was because their house was under construction. Everyone referred to Jasper as "Kim" or "Kimberley", including Kim's grandparents and Gillian's boyfriend's four-year-old daughter. I was told this was a family joke and that everyone called Kim "Jasper" as well (though looking back at this, even a non-family member calls her "Kim"). I believed it, because I was 22, dumb, on the other side of the world, and in love. Love will fuck you up and make you blind to the simplest things, like the fact that your girlfriend is lying to your face every day.
After visiting her, our relationship was fine and somewhat stable until around October. I uploaded the pictures I took of us to my Facebook account, and Jasper, having only had a picture of stars for her profile picture, used one of the photos of us finally. Kim also had a Facebook account, but there were never any photos of her on it; rather a picture of Chupa Chup lollipops. Gillian, who I was told was Jasper's mother, also has a Facebook account, but she also does not have a real photograph of herself up, so I cannot determine if she is the same Gillian as Kim's mother, though at this point it's rather obvious. Ashleigh has a Facebook with a real picture of herself, and she is indeed the same girl I met in New Zealand, but she never accepted my friend request. After Jasper and I semi-broke up in November, both Jasper and Kim's Facebook accounts were deleted.
The fighting started again after Kim's grandmother died (this is actually true. this is her online obituary (cap), which also shows proof that Kim and Ashleigh are sisters, and contains a comment from the woman Jasper claims is her mother) and Jasper's father died the same week (this I don't believe. He was in his forties and suffered a stroke, lived long enough for Jasper to visit him in the hospital, make her peace with him and forgive him for being a horrible abusive father, and then died). Jasper became extremely touchy. I forgot to e-mail her one day and she flipped out at me. We semi-broke up. A few days later, one of her friends who I had never spoken to before flipped out at me, called me an asshole and told me to go to hell and "take a hint and get the fuck out of" Jasper's life. Jasper defended her friend. We broke up permanently.
I had toyed with the idea of Jasper, Kim and Shadow being the same person before, and about two weeks before we finally broke up for good near the end of December, I confronted her with the notion. She was shocked, said it wasn't true, and also said that she would have to leave the internet because of it. I asked her why, if it wasn't true? She said it was because if I thought it, others must too, so what was the point trying to convince them otherwise? I told her I hadn't told anyone else, and wouldn't if she could give me proof, in the form of IDs, that she and Kim, at the least, weren't the same person. If she did, I was prepared to let the matter drop. She told me she had lost her ID and it would take at least 10 business days to get a new one printed. Kim had a school ID, but it didn't have her picture on it, which didn't really matter because she didn't send me that either. I also asked if she could get her drivers license replaced, and she gave me the bizarre answer of needing to resit her exam to get it replaced, and became extra defensive. Beyond caring about her games at this point, I agreed. A few days of me pestering her constantly for the IDs later, she said it was a shame I didn't trust her, because she had gotten tickets to see me for New Year's as a surprise, despite telling me she wouldn't have enough money to visit me until April only a week before, and despite me having a full time job that she knew I would have had to notify weeks in advance if I needed time off. Being the brilliant person I am, I told her I would let the matter drop entirely if she came to visit. That way, I thought, I could see her passport and know for sure who she really was. That plan was shot to hell when we broke up and she told me she sold her ticket and had no way of getting it back. A few days later it was clear we would not be speaking to each other anymore.
I have been compiling proof of her triple life on and off since then. Since telling others of my belief, they have come to me with other pertinent facts and information drawing more dubious connections.
On June 21, 2008, Jasper posted for Kim, saying that she would be leaving in a week for Japan. Here's a cap of the IP address Kim posted from while still in New Zealand. I have also learned that Kim and Jasper have the same cellphone number. If you have either one of their numbers, compare it to this: 642 746 xxx43 (censored to prevent harassment). Shadow gave out a non-working cellphone number with a NZ country and area code while supposedly living in America.
I was not the only one deceived and hurt by her lies, however. During the summer of 2008, Shadow dated a girl she knew online, meaning that Jasper was dating both her and I at the same time, talking to both of us and telling us she loved us as if we were the only ones. That is only the beginning of what she did to Emily, also known as aishiteru, however.
Emily and Shadow started dating late in March of 2008 after Emily admitted feelings on an anon meme ( here.) Apparently they both lived in the same state and were trying to arrange to meet, but a number of things happened. First, Shadow got in a car crash and ended up in the hospital. Jasper posted in her journal reporting the incident, saying Shadow was still unconscious but her father was with her and she'd be okay. She later posted again on Shadow's behalf saying Shadow was awake and asking after her LJ friends.
No one was ever able to figure out what hospital Shadow was staying at, even Emily, who had asked about it so she could go visit.
During/around this time, Shadow's mother (apparently living in Australia) fell very ill and eventually passed away. Meaning Shadow had to fly back to Australia with her father for the funeral. At that point she and Emily still hadn't managed to meet up.
Throughout April and May she kept claiming in her journal that she would be returning home soon. But one delay after another occurred, with the blame usually falling on Shadow's dad, because apparently he wouldn't let her return. Some time in June she returned to the US only to end up in Michigan with relatives, because, once again, her dad demanded it.
Shadow finally returned home towards the end of June. About a week passed after her return, and then she vanished off of the internet for three straight weeks.
She returned again and was around intermittently for roughly nine days, and then vanished for another three weeks.
At the end of those three weeks, her journal was deleted. When an email was sent to her account, a mailer daemon bounced it back - she must have deactivated it. Without any warning or even saying goodbye, Shadow had abandoned Emily.
Jasper later reported receiving a final email from her. She had apparently moved on to a new life where she was happy, and didn't really mention Emily much at all. No contact was ever made again. That was that.
It was always a little suspicious. Pretty much every chance to meet up was met with a new crisis (the hospital, her mom's death, another hospital visit during her stay in Michigan) and the phone number she gave out apparently never worked. (In all likelihood it was fake.) Here's Jasper's explanation of Shadow and her relationship with her.
After deleting her LJ and saying she wouldn't return to the internet, a secret showed up on roleplaysecrets. It was a screencap of a post on discedo_ooc, with an edit button visible. The edit button indicated that the secret was made by either the original poster (and since the secret was a slam on them, it was unlikely), or a mod of the community. When people started suspecting mods of making the secret, "Shadow" suddenly appeared, claiming to be the original poster of the secret. People jumped on her, and she deleted the original comment. Others jumped in with caps of her comment, and others capped traitorousfire's profile, showing Shadow did indeed own that journal. It has since been deleted. Here's Jasper's reaction to the fake secret.
She undeleted enables on April 8, 2009, but she has also semi-moved on to disbar, which she is using as a personal journal to play at another RP with RP journals she'd used under enables. She has also unfriended those journals from hobocamp, her musebox community. Also of note is the fact that disbar lists charmalicious (Ashleigh) as a friend but not impasse (Kim), keeping in mind that Kim is supposedly Jasper's friend of ten years and Ashleigh is Kim's sister.
TL;DR: Kim [photo, impasse], Jasper [photo, yahsgirl, enables, disbar, splattercombo] and Shadow [drawing, rationalise] are the same person.
- "Jasper" and "Shadow" are people imagined and played by Kim for the past three years.
- Kim and "Shadow" have had the same screennames.
- Kim was not in Japan when she said she was, posting from an IP address very close to one "Jasper" had posted from the day before.
- Kim and "Jasper" have the same cell phone number: 642 746 xxx43
- "Shadow" gave out a cellphone number that never worked, with a New Zealand country and area code while claiming to be living in the United States.
- "Jasper" faked a suicide attempt, illnesses and injuries, lied about being abused by her parents, and lied about her father's death.
- "Shadow" faked illnesses and injuries, lied about being abused by her father, and lied about her mother's death.
a very late update, of sorts: Shortly after this post went up, I spoke to Kim, though she would not IM me directly and chose to speak to me in a chat with her girlfriend at the time. She confessed to being both Kim and Jasper, but denied being Shadow, even in the face of the evidence presented here and further testimonies in the comments. When asked to prove that she is not Shadow, she said she could not, and all we would have is her word, which, as you might surmise, is not worth all that much.
She did apologize to me, though reluctantly and only after I asked her to.
She also went on to date two people simultaneously after she broke up with me in December. I do not think she is dating either of them now.

If you're reading this, it's likely you know Kim, but it's also possible you don't. It's also possible you think you know her, but you really have no idea who or what she is.
This is here to educate you. This is here to outline Kim's three-year internet charade, in which she was not only the main player, but two others as well. The one most are acquainted with is known as "Jasper", but we'll get to her. For now, let's focus on Kim herself.
The journal impasse was created on November 3rd, 2004, but things don't start to get interesting until 2006, when Kim discovered the wonderful world of LJ roleplaying.
She joined entranceway around September 2006 (she did not make an intro post, but the earliest comment I can find from her in the OOC community is dated September 18, 2006 (cap) and her first entry for Celine is dated September 3, 2006 (cap)) as Celine Jules, primeprayer, from Star Ocean. Not long later, she, as most roleplayers do, picked up a second character: Tseng, enigmatic_ego, from Final Fantasy VII. All seemed normal. Then, on October 7, 2006, she picked up Luxord (cap), stackthedeck, from Kingdom Hearts II.
This is the first instance of her introducing and referring to herself as Shadow. Kim is the first and main player. Shadow is the second of Kim's three personalities.
At this point, though, Kim does not yet have the hang of managing multiple names, and at this point, Shadow may still have just been a nickname for herself and not a different person, as evidenced five days later, October 12, 2006 (cap), when she introduced herself again as Kim, Luxord's player. Then, again, two days later this time, on October 14 (cap) as Shadow. Further, another player addresses Luxord (Shadow) as Tseng's player on October 20 (cap) and then another addresses Celine (Kim) as Tseng's player on November 1 (cap). Kim later uses her personal journal to drop Tseng on November 15 (cap), further revealing Kim, not Shadow, as Tseng's player.
Confused yet? Let's throw in Xemnas, firstsilence, introduced October 27, 2006 (cap) (conveniently?) without a player being mentioned.
And this is where it gets even more confusing. On October 28, 2006 (cap), Celine (Kim) proposes an event for which she needs volunteers. Xemnas, whose player at this point is unknown, volunteers. Kim, using her personal journal, thanks Xemnas and Saix's players for volunteering. It would appear Xemnas is not played by Kim, correct?
Wrong, because three days later, on October 31, 2006 (cap), it is revealed that Kim is actually Xemnas's player. This is reiterated November 21 (cap), when Kim is referred to as the player of both Xemnas ("Xiggy's boss") and Celine. And remember the screenname doublechances being Shadow's? Well, now it's Kim's too (cap).
Told you she didn't quite have the hang of it yet.
Then, on December 24, 2006 (cap), Jasper, Kim's third and final personality, is introduced, playing Roxas, onein_thirteen, from Kingdom Hearts II. From her introductory entry, it is obvious Jasper is meant to be an entirely separate person, not handled clumsily like Shadow was. She even has a personal journal, yahsgirl, created December 5, 2006. Kim is starting to get the hang of it now. This is where the fun begins.
Kim rushes into 2007 headlong, with Shadow now a separate personality, evidenced January 4, 2007 (cap), with Luxord (Shadow) responding to Celine's (Kim) post in a way that would imply they are not the same person. Kim also mentions only playing two characters, Xemnas and Celine. The very next day, January 5 (cap), Luxord (Shadow) proposes an event. And then, on January 7, the division is complete. Shadow introduces Xehanort (cap), hypothesize, from Kingdom Hearts II, and Kim brings back Tseng (cap). In Shadow's entry, it is evident that Kim and Shadow are no longer meant to be the same person. Remember the screenname lemon and paeroa?
On January 12, 2007 (cap), Jasper drops Roxas. In the comments to her drop post, Jasper, Kim and Shadow all interact as separate people. Jasper disappears for a month. Kim and Shadow take conveniently timed hiatuses near the end of January, for vacation (cap) and moving house (cap), respectively.
Then, on February 7 (cap), Jasper returns with Roxas using a new character LJ, unbidden. Around this time, there is a surge of Kingdom Hearts roleplayers joining; Namine, Axel, and Riku, with Sora, Zexion and Lexaeus joining the month before. With a larger cast, there is more incentive for Roxas, and Jasper, to stay.
On February 19, 2007 (cap), Jasper posts a friending meme for players to friend each other with their personal LJs. Kim posts (cap) with impasse, and we learn that Shadow's personal LJ (cap) is rationalise, which she deleted some months ago, so unfortunately the creation date for it is lost. Strangely, despite posting the meme, Jasper does not start a thread for herself or comment on any other threads. On February 21 (cap), she posts hiatuses for Kim and Shadow using her Roxas LJ.
February 25, 2007 (cap), Shadow, now playing Lexaeus, rocktheearth, from Kingdom Hearts II, says she is "jetting to New Zealand", implying she does not live there. Plus, it is only for a week, and for a class. Yet, somehow, she posts an event on March 1 (cap), only five days later, and comments extensively. She does the same on March 3 (cap).
March 18, 2007 (cap), Jasper introduces DiZ, wiserone, from Kingdom Hearts II. She has still not yet used her personal LJ in the OOC community.
She does, finally, on April 20, 2007 (cap), on an entry announcing her and the Riku's player flying up to Wellington, New Zealand, to stay with Kim during an anime convention. Her personal LJ is enables, created March 17 of 2007 (she deleted this lj from March 26, 2009 to April 8, 2009).
As an aside, Riku at that time was played by a girl calling herself alternatively Punky and Ash. Her real name is Ashleigh. Ashleigh is Kim's sister. Her personal LJ is charmalicious, and she has a bebo. It is difficult to compose a proper timeline without this vital information, so I will delve into Kim's family life now, instead of leaving you, dear reader, in the dark.
Kim has a sister and brother. At this point, I am not certain of Kim's real age (though she claims to be 21), but her sister Ashleigh is 18, born in July of 1990. Their brother is younger, though I do not know by how much. When I met him in August 2008, he appeared around 11 or 12.
Kim's parents are divorced, though I do not know when it happened. Kim lives with her mother and mother's boyfriend, and Ashleigh and their brother live with their father. I do not know where their father was living at the time of the above entry, though I assume it was on NZ's south island, in Dunedin, as Jasper and Kim have posted from IP addresses there and in Christchurch, and in an e-mail in July of 2008 Jasper told me she had lived in Wellington for around a year, having moved there from Dunedin. As of August 2008, their father was living in Wellington, though I am not certain which part, and their mother was living in Lower Hutt, just outside of Wellington.
Ashleigh plays along with Kim's identities, and even had a second one of her own, playing both Riku and Kairi at Entranceway for a short while.
Back to the April 20, 2007 post, what likely actually happened was Ashleigh and Kim flew up to Wellington from Dunedin to stay with their mother.
June 11, 2007 (cap), Jasper picks up Rafe, doublechances, from Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis/Last Order. Hmm, why does that name sound familiar?
In the summer of 2007, an AIM chat was started for Entranceway players to hang out in OOC. Most of the regulars were on every day, for hours. Unfortunately, for this, all you have is my word, but very rarely were Kim, Jasper and Shadow online simultaneously. Kim was actually rarely online at all, and quite often Jasper would sign on moments after Shadow signed off. I remember commenting on this a few times in passing, and I believe others did as well. At any rate, this is significant because it melded the regulars into a tight group of friends. It is also significant for another reason.
On July 28, 2007 (cap), Jasper announced she was going to America--Michigan, specifically--to visit Shadow. She left after August 13 (cap). Yet somehow, two days later, August 15 (cap), she and Kim changed ownership of Xemnas and Xaldin's journals, then Jasper picks up a new character on August 20 (cap). And remember the AIM chat? Any regular at that time can attest to the fact that despite supposedly being on the other side of the world visiting Shadow, she was constantly in chat and still RPing as much as she usually would. When asked why she was on the computer instead of out with Shadow, she would say Shadow was ignoring her; basically shoved a laptop at her and told her to amuse herself. Shadow was often out, as well, leaving Jasper at her house for God knows what reason. She would later (mid-2008) tell me they had a falling out because of this. And then on August 21 (cap), Riku changed hands from Ashleigh to Shadow.
On September 12, 2007, I started dating Jasper.
My perception of time gets muddied here, but I will do my best to relay what happened between us as far as is important. It's mostly hearsay from this point, so bear with me, please.
Around the time Jasper and I started dating, she gave me her cell phone number. I used it to call her several times and text her often over the next year or so. She gave me her address, to which I sent letters and occasional gifts, which I saw when I visited her and the one time we spoke on webcam. We'd talk on Skype once in a while, though despite Kim moving in with her around the beginning of 2008, she never spoke to me and I never heard her voice, the the background of a call or otherwise. Jasper would often say she was out, at school or with friends. Getting Jasper to send me pictures of her was nigh impossible; like pulling teeth, and we would have horrific fights over it. She claimed it was because she hated the way she looked, or because she couldn't find her camera, or her camera cord, or her camera batteries died, even though she could post pictures of random crap in her house. I did eventually get a few pictures from her; one even had Kim in it. Looking back at it now, the girl that's supposed to be Kim looks like she could be Jasper's sister or cousin. It is not Ashleigh, however. To this day I still do not know who she is.
Jasper dropped out of school at 16. She had a brother who died at a very young age. Her parents were abusive, she said--when I had been dating her for roughly two or three months, she told me she saw her mother at a wedding and her mother, not having changed at all, threw her down, breaking her wrist--and she moved out at the same time she dropped out of school. She got by on the kindness of friends and worked to support herself. She had know Kim since childhood; roughly ten years. Kim's family had helped Jasper as though she were their own daughter. Remember Jasper's introductory post? Does it seem that way to you? I was told Jasper's real parents basically stalked her, or at least her mother did, calling her constantly and showing up for unexpected visits. She said she had called the police on her mother before and attempted to get restraining orders, despite friending her on Facebook and interacting with her on it frequently.
Kim went to school and Jasper worked. Jasper had a string of bad roommates (for some reason they all seemed to end up having sex in her kitchen, which would result in her kicking them out) until finally Kim moved in with her. They paid rent on their small house with Jasper's wages and an allowance Kim got from her parents. In the time I was dating Jasper, however, she was frequently unemployed, not only for days or weeks but often months at a time. I did ask her about this, as well as several other aspects of her personal life that did not make sense to me. She was often a clothing store manager, but when I broke up with her she was an apprentice at a bakery. Which she could somehow e-mail me from and chat on AIM. For hours. At a bakery.
About a month before I flew to New Zealand to visit Jasper, we broke up. It is still my belief that she was trying to sabotage us; maybe out of guilt for lying to me, maybe just to mess with me, or maybe because she wasn't prepared to hide everything properly for a visit yet. A few days after we broke up, she completely lost her mind. Completely. She signed off AIM to avoid me. I e-mailed her, and it went downhill from there. She threatened suicide. Terrified, I e-mailed Kim to see if she could calm her down. Kim rushed home and later told me Jasper had cut her arms, though not too badly. Jasper was seeing a therapist at this time, and so was I. I told my therapist about this outburst, and he told me it was likely she would be committed to a hospital for suicide watch for a few days. Despite telling me she visited her therapist the next day and told him what happened, she was not committed. When I finally saw her a few weeks later, there were no traces of cuts on her arms.
She also told me that her therapist had put her on Effexor in April of 2008, but it was making her physically ill and causing intense moodswings. I told her to talk to her psychiatrist about it, because I had known people on Effexor and they had also had bad reactions to it, and my own therapist said it wasn't a very good medication. She told me later he took her off of it. Not long after, she told me she had started a new medication. When I asked her what it was, she told me Venlafaxine. Venlafaxine is the scientific name for Effexor. When I asked her what was up with that, she said she didn't know they were the same medication and became evasive. After that, the subject of her therapy and medication became very touchy, to the point where I avoided talking about it completely.
I visited her for five days in August of 2008. This is me (on the left) with the girl I met as Jasper. Look familiar? Look again. These pictures were taken August of 2008. This picture was taken September 20, 2008 (cap), and found on Ashleigh's bebo account. Note the caption.
At the time, she said she had three roommates: a male and female I never learned the names of, and Kim. For the five days I was there, I was told Kim was staying at a friend's house over an hour away, studying for her exams. Jasper didn't know where her male and female roommates had gone, but Kim's mother, Gillian (coincidentally also the name of Jasper's mother), and Gillian's boyfriend stayed with us the whole time. I was told it was because their house was under construction. Everyone referred to Jasper as "Kim" or "Kimberley", including Kim's grandparents and Gillian's boyfriend's four-year-old daughter. I was told this was a family joke and that everyone called Kim "Jasper" as well (though looking back at this, even a non-family member calls her "Kim"). I believed it, because I was 22, dumb, on the other side of the world, and in love. Love will fuck you up and make you blind to the simplest things, like the fact that your girlfriend is lying to your face every day.
After visiting her, our relationship was fine and somewhat stable until around October. I uploaded the pictures I took of us to my Facebook account, and Jasper, having only had a picture of stars for her profile picture, used one of the photos of us finally. Kim also had a Facebook account, but there were never any photos of her on it; rather a picture of Chupa Chup lollipops. Gillian, who I was told was Jasper's mother, also has a Facebook account, but she also does not have a real photograph of herself up, so I cannot determine if she is the same Gillian as Kim's mother, though at this point it's rather obvious. Ashleigh has a Facebook with a real picture of herself, and she is indeed the same girl I met in New Zealand, but she never accepted my friend request. After Jasper and I semi-broke up in November, both Jasper and Kim's Facebook accounts were deleted.
The fighting started again after Kim's grandmother died (this is actually true. this is her online obituary (cap), which also shows proof that Kim and Ashleigh are sisters, and contains a comment from the woman Jasper claims is her mother) and Jasper's father died the same week (this I don't believe. He was in his forties and suffered a stroke, lived long enough for Jasper to visit him in the hospital, make her peace with him and forgive him for being a horrible abusive father, and then died). Jasper became extremely touchy. I forgot to e-mail her one day and she flipped out at me. We semi-broke up. A few days later, one of her friends who I had never spoken to before flipped out at me, called me an asshole and told me to go to hell and "take a hint and get the fuck out of" Jasper's life. Jasper defended her friend. We broke up permanently.
I had toyed with the idea of Jasper, Kim and Shadow being the same person before, and about two weeks before we finally broke up for good near the end of December, I confronted her with the notion. She was shocked, said it wasn't true, and also said that she would have to leave the internet because of it. I asked her why, if it wasn't true? She said it was because if I thought it, others must too, so what was the point trying to convince them otherwise? I told her I hadn't told anyone else, and wouldn't if she could give me proof, in the form of IDs, that she and Kim, at the least, weren't the same person. If she did, I was prepared to let the matter drop. She told me she had lost her ID and it would take at least 10 business days to get a new one printed. Kim had a school ID, but it didn't have her picture on it, which didn't really matter because she didn't send me that either. I also asked if she could get her drivers license replaced, and she gave me the bizarre answer of needing to resit her exam to get it replaced, and became extra defensive. Beyond caring about her games at this point, I agreed. A few days of me pestering her constantly for the IDs later, she said it was a shame I didn't trust her, because she had gotten tickets to see me for New Year's as a surprise, despite telling me she wouldn't have enough money to visit me until April only a week before, and despite me having a full time job that she knew I would have had to notify weeks in advance if I needed time off. Being the brilliant person I am, I told her I would let the matter drop entirely if she came to visit. That way, I thought, I could see her passport and know for sure who she really was. That plan was shot to hell when we broke up and she told me she sold her ticket and had no way of getting it back. A few days later it was clear we would not be speaking to each other anymore.
I have been compiling proof of her triple life on and off since then. Since telling others of my belief, they have come to me with other pertinent facts and information drawing more dubious connections.
On June 21, 2008, Jasper posted for Kim, saying that she would be leaving in a week for Japan. Here's a cap of the IP address Kim posted from while still in New Zealand. By July 19 (cap), she was supposed to be in Japan. Here's a cap of the IP address she was posting from while in Japan. For comparison, here's a cap of the IP address Jasper posted from the day before.
I have also learned that Kim and Jasper have the same cellphone number. If you have either one of their numbers, compare it to this: 642 746 xxx43 (censored to prevent harassment). Shadow gave out a non-working cellphone number with a NZ country and area code while supposedly living in America.
I was not the only one deceived and hurt by her lies, however. During the summer of 2008, Shadow dated a girl she knew online, meaning that Jasper was dating both her and I at the same time, talking to both of us and telling us she loved us as if we were the only ones. That is only the beginning of what she did to Emily, also known as aishiteru, however.
Emily and Shadow started dating late in March of 2008 after Emily admitted feelings on an anon meme ( here.) Apparently they both lived in the same state and were trying to arrange to meet, but a number of things happened. First, Shadow got in a car crash and ended up in the hospital. Jasper posted in her journal reporting the incident, saying Shadow was still unconscious but her father was with her and she'd be okay. She later posted again on Shadow's behalf saying Shadow was awake and asking after her LJ friends.
No one was ever able to figure out what hospital Shadow was staying at, even Emily, who had asked about it so she could go visit.
During/around this time, Shadow's mother (apparently living in Australia) fell very ill and eventually passed away. Meaning Shadow had to fly back to Australia with her father for the funeral. At that point she and Emily still hadn't managed to meet up.
Throughout April and May she kept claiming in her journal that she would be returning home soon. But one delay after another occurred, with the blame usually falling on Shadow's dad, because apparently he wouldn't let her return. Some time in June she returned to the US only to end up in Michigan with relatives, because, once again, her dad demanded it.
Shadow finally returned home towards the end of June. About a week passed after her return, and then she vanished off of the internet for three straight weeks.
She returned again and was around intermittently for roughly nine days, and then vanished for another three weeks.
At the end of those three weeks, her journal was deleted. When an email was sent to her account, a mailer daemon bounced it back - she must have deactivated it. Without any warning or even saying goodbye, Shadow had abandoned Emily.
Jasper later reported receiving a final email from her. She had apparently moved on to a new life where she was happy, and didn't really mention Emily much at all. No contact was ever made again. That was that.
It was always a little suspicious. Pretty much every chance to meet up was met with a new crisis (the hospital, her mom's death, another hospital visit during her stay in Michigan) and the phone number she gave out apparently never worked. (In all likelihood it was fake.) Here's Jasper's explanation of Shadow and her relationship with her.
After deleting her LJ and saying she wouldn't return to the internet, a secret showed up on roleplaysecrets. It was a screencap of a post on discedo_ooc, with an edit button visible. The edit button indicated that the secret was made by either the original poster (and since the secret was a slam on them, it was unlikely), or a mod of the community. When people started suspecting mods of making the secret, "Shadow" suddenly appeared, claiming to be the original poster of the secret. People jumped on her, and she deleted the original comment. Others jumped in with caps of her comment, and others capped traitorousfire's profile, showing Shadow did indeed own that journal. It has since been deleted. Here's Jasper's reaction to the fake secret.
She undeleted enables on April 8, 2009, but she has also semi-moved on to disbar, which she is using as a personal journal to play at another RP with RP journals she'd used under enables. She has also unfriended those journals from hobocamp, her musebox community. Also of note is the fact that disbar lists charmalicious (Ashleigh) as a friend but not impasse (Kim), keeping in mind that Kim is supposedly Jasper's friend of ten years and Ashleigh is Kim's sister.
TL;DR: Kim [photo, impasse], Jasper [photo, yahsgirl, enables, disbar, splattercombo] and Shadow [drawing, rationalise] are the same person.
- "Jasper" and "Shadow" are people imagined and played by Kim for the past three years.
- Kim and "Shadow" have had the same screennames.
- Kim was not in Japan when she said she was, posting from an IP address very close to one "Jasper" had posted from the day before.
- Kim and "Jasper" have the same cell phone number: 642 746 xxx43
- "Shadow" gave out a cellphone number that never worked, with a New Zealand country and area code while claiming to be living in the United States.
- "Jasper" faked a suicide attempt, illnesses and injuries, lied about being abused by her parents, and lied about her father's death.
- "Shadow" faked illnesses and injuries, lied about being abused by her father, and lied about her mother's death.
a very late update, of sorts: Shortly after this post went up, I spoke to Kim, though she would not IM me directly and chose to speak to me in a chat with her girlfriend at the time. She confessed to being both Kim and Jasper, but denied being Shadow, even in the face of the evidence presented here and further testimonies in the comments. When asked to prove that she is not Shadow, she said she could not, and all we would have is her word, which, as you might surmise, is not worth all that much.
She did apologize to me, though reluctantly and only after I asked her to.
She also went on to date two people simultaneously after she broke up with me in December. I do not think she is dating either of them now.
