In the third and final(?) installment of our Zombie!Quail war meme, I present:
Day Of The Zombie!Quail.
The following is a report on the Zombie Quail/Chick outbreak in the area of central Florida:
In the past several days, we have caught 2 zombie chicks and 28 zombie quail. We have been forced to construct special pens to hold them since their numbers have grown so large.
Note the lack of feathers on the Zombie quail.
It is believed they have been feasting on one another while looking for new sources of food.*
Studies of the Zombie Quail reveal no brain activity.
However, they have a strong reaction to whistles and clicks, as demonstrated in the above picture.
From a distance, they may appear as nothing but normal quail. Closer inspection reveals the true horror of their nature.
While you may not cower in fear beneath your sheets, it is recommended you do not go outside. Zombie Quail are everywhere, and they will stop at nothing to eat. They prefer birdseed as well as regular zombie fare such as Brains...and cats!
Do not think the plague is over. While we have rounded up these, there're countless others still out there, lurking in bushes, waiting.
*Actually, they are fresh out of the brooder and have lost feathers due to heat and stress of overcrowding. I had intended to hold them and my 2 chicks in the dog carrier until we moved in a few weeks. Since it takes them a long time to mature (9 weeks for the quail), I had thought to get a few small birds. My father surprised me by buy ten more, and the man gave us 4 more on top of that since he had so many. So, this means we had to go get the supplies for a new cage. The last 3 are of the cage we built this afternoon. It took 4 hours and I hand threaded most of the wire holding it together. What do you think? Don't you just love them? Ruby and Rose (my larger and smaller chicks), now have 28 Courtneys to play with. And eat me out of house and home. LOL.
I love them!
