This was not the king of a desert city, but just your normal, run-of-the mill fairy tale king with a golden crown and fur-lined robes, just... prettier. Clearly, it is you, my king.~ For surely you will accept this offering I have here for you.

[ The king looked up at the sound of the woman's voice - hey, why hadn't he seen her there? ... Oh. Putting his glasses on (no one saw that bit of fail, no), he regards the "old" lady once more with a kind smile. ]

That's very kind of you, my dear; you must have traveled quite a ways and that basket of apples must be heavy. Who are you to have gone to so much trouble?

[She bows down low before the throne-- can't see her face still.]

Just an old peasant woman. I thought to see you at least once before my death.

[ He stands, as that is what you do, although he is touched by her words. ]

Not every monarch has the honor of being an old lady's dying wish.

Is that so? Well, if you continue to be the sort of princess who freely utters the words "I don't know" I am certain you will grow up to become a very wise queen.

I do not know enough people in the City to make an accurate assessment of who is the most intelligent. I can only eliminate obviously unqualified candidates.

If you were very clever yourself, you would be able to find a way around this obvious disadvantage. Since you haven't, I must assume that you are not qualified to judge who is and isn't intelligent.

This assertion is of course backed up by the fact that you happen to be speaking to royalty in this manner, and that's not very smart at all no matter how you look at it.

Depends on what definition of clever you want to give.

Preferably not whichever definition involves not mistaking personal electronics for enchanted mirrors. I'd like to have at least a fighting chance.
