Catch me, I'm falling

into fandom. I've just finished watching season four of Queer as Folk. I've been dying to break into this verse ever since I first heard about it, which would be way back in the dark ages of HP fandom when queerasjohn was a middling BNF, and now over Christmas break I've finally done it.

I'm not going to wax poetic about my love for this series.  I'm more overwhelmed by it.  These days, the way I express my enjoyment of a verse is by the extent I get involved in the fandom.  And I'm chomping at the bit, baby.  I've decided that being spoiled for season five is unavoidable, and I'm going to begin my journey of indoctrination.

In the My Little Pony fandom, one goes to Dream Valley.  In the Harry Potter fandom one goes to the Lexicon.  What is the Queer as Folk equivalent?  How should I start out?  I've never been in a TV fandom before, and already I can tell it's going to be incredibly different from being in a book fandom.  There is so much stuff to remember, and zillions and zillions of characters- or at least what seems like it.

Currently my favorite character is Emmett and my favorite ship is Brian/Justin, but I have a history of being very fluid in these categories.  I don't like Micheal very much, but my pet peeve in fanfiction is character-bashing and I've already noticed the extent to which that occurs in this fandom.  I'm looking for essays, vids, fanart, fanfiction, and icons.  I would also like to know when season five is coming out, if that information has even been released yet.

If anyone has any suggestions about where I should go and what I should do, they would be very appreciated.
