it's an honor and a privilege.

He remembered a history teacher telling him about the Mississippi and the slave boats that traveled up and down it, about New Orleans being one of the centres of the slave trade. He'd written a paper on it, a litany of facts that made him feel hot and cold, and awkward in his skin, but he had a better imagination now for the shit that people would do to each other without blinking, and he probably hadn't even scraped the surface on the atrocities that took place.

dipenates  has written a gorgeous remix of my fic, After the Flood, and even if you haven't read my story, I still strongly suggest you go check out her remix. It's just hearbreaking and sweet and evocative. She's done a much more thorough and poetic job of describing New Orleans than I did, and John and Dean's relationship is portrayed with such loving nuance.

SO PLEASE GO READ AND COMMENT! This fic seriously deserves more feedback than it currently has!
