So I've been writing and posting a lot of fic lately. Especially compared to the nothing I posted for almost a year! Mostly because I quit my job and wasn't working for a month. Well, my time is up. See, I didn't get, like, satisfaction out of it? But I also didn't go "OMG HOW COULD HE DO THAT?" I thought it was a fascinating and in character move -- and this is an excellent exploration of potential reasons behind it.

number 5, yeah that was the one I knew had to be on the list cuz it was on mine, too. Then number 7 for the same damn reason. And then 13 and 14 all rolled into one giant ache.
This was so well written and so into Dean psyche.
I feel like I just rewatched the scene.

This makes perfect sense.

And it seems I was one off -- I counted THIRTEEN. Which would be a seriously symbolic number, given everything they've been through and are going through now.

Each and every reason here made absolute sense. Brava!

You DID??? I counted a few times, but there is a big mush of punches that go by very quickly. I was, like 95% sure it was 14 punches when I wrote this....

Yeah, I'm a compulsive counter.

Went back and re-watched it again, re-counted...and I'm positive there's 13.

Eerie symbolism there, and perfect counterpart to what Sam did to Dean in Stull.....he hit him exactly 13 times.

Of course, I could be miscounting both times.

Great story, in any case, one of my new favourites!

Oh No! Shhhhhh!!!!! Don't tell or I'll have to change the title! And do some creative editing.

.....are you sure? Maybe #14 was because Dean had to literally one-up Sam. That's still symbolic, isn't it? Like, in a really childish way. "I win, cause I hit you one more time!" Hey, no one's ever accused Dean of being super mature!
