"Go out with me."

"No." Edward tapped on his keyboard and grabbed his coffee cup, completely ignoring the man leaning on his cubical wall.

"Please?"

"No." More silence. A couple of emails. A trip to the coffee room.

"How about now?"

"No." Luke stared at Edward.

"...Now?"

"No." His response never changed either. It wasn't even about the words, the inflection never changed either. Luke couldn't tell if Edward was annoyed or irritated or... anything. Just an expressionless "no." Luke scowled.

"I'm not asking ye to marry me. Just go out to coffee, together like. We're coworkers, geez."

"Sorry, no." That wasn't any better than just "no." Luke tapped on the top of the cubicle wall.

"Well why not? It's not because of my accent is it? Cos I'm a hick?" The corner of Edward's mouth twitched. Luke squinted. Was that a smile? That couldn't be the reason... could it? "D'ya have a deep dark secret that you just can't have me finding out?" This time, Edward's mouth thinned a bit. But the corner twitched again, so Luke knew that it had to be because he was trying not to smile. At least, he hoped so. Luke propped his chin on his hands. "So it's true? Do you have superpowers?"

There it was again. Luke swore he saw Edward's eyebrow twitch too. "Don't you have work?" It didn't sound like a blow off. Or even idle inquiry. It sounded like genuine concern - or at least genuine curiosity. Luke tucked a stray hair behind his ear.

"Nah. I get done with work pretty fast. Idle hands and all that." He waved a hand around in example.

"Could you get me some more coffee, please?" Luke frowned, considering. It seemed like an honest request... He brightened.

"Okay, but only if you seriously consider going out with me." But before Edward could say anything, Luke grabbed his mug and was jauntily making his way to the coffee room. Edward stared after him.

Luke sighed at the coffee maker when it gurgled. Well, at least the cup was mostly filled. He hoped that Edward wouldn't mind sweet and somewhat diluted coffee. He trudged back dejectedly, only to find Edward slightly slumped on his keyboard. Luke blinked. He checked his watch. Well, damn. He hadn't known it was that late. Luke set the coffee down and touched Edward's shoulder. The man twitched, but only in small motions, bumping at Luke's hand like he was... encouraging him to touch. Luke's eyebrows rose, but he complied. He patted Edward's head.

Edward moved into his touch. Like the bunny Luke had when he was a kid. His hair was certainly soft enough. Luke leaned in, as Edward began to slump, in order to stop him from sliding all the way down. He jumped when Edward nuzzled his stomach. He hadn't known that they were that near to each other. He tried to draw back, but Edward's arms slid around his hips. The other man rumbled in his sleep; "Luke..."

Luke felt a funny jerking feeling behind his navel. "W-w-w-Wake up, ya doof," he said, blushing. He pushed at Edward's shoulder, but the man just clung to him. Then they were grappling, Edward trying to pull Luke closer and Luke trying to resist. And failing. Soon, Luke was near straddling Edward's waist, having been manhandled into the chair on top of his lap. "Y-Ye're not asleep, I can t-tell."

"Nope," Edward rumbled. "But I was sleepy." He buried his face into Luke's collar. "This is why I refused to go out with you. This'd happen."

"Huh?" Edward's hands ghosted up Luke's sides from his knees. He shuddered at the heat radiating off of them. The hands stopped at his hips, using them to pull Luke closer to Edward. Then they pushed down, forcing Luke to sit down all the way. "...oh."

"Sorry..."

Luke smiled. "Yer coffee is gettin' cold."

"Yeah." Arms slipped around his waist. "But we can get some more, later."

Luke chuckled. "Yeah, we could." He wiggled. Edward made a rough sound. "Ever'one else's gone home already." He smirked at Edward's heated look. "Maybe we should go... get the coffee." The grip on his sides tightened.

"At my place."
