well, hello stranger...

I haven't posted in a while... I've been busy with dog. I think I am finally getting a better handle on balancing a schedule with a dog, but I still haven't done any regular crafting yet, which is something I need to get back into.

Yes, Lorraine is a time-suck. She's a cute time-suck, though.

The latest news with her is that we spayed her, she wore the E-collar (the cone thing) for 11 days, and she is licking the incision site now that we have removed the cone. She isn't doing this constantly, so I'm not too concerned... I just don't remember this much in the way of "fussiness" when Sushi was spayed. That did not seem to be the involved "ordeal" that Lorraine's surgery was (it hasn't really been an ordeal, but it seems like there is a lot more stuff that I didn't have to deal with before with previous dogs.)

She is very happy to have to cone off, although she came up with a "game" when she wore the cone, which was the "ram-the-cone-into-the-organic-matter-of-choice-and-fling-said-matter-into-the-air" game. I saw sticks, leaves, landscaping mulch, and clods of dirt go airborne many times in the last few days. I'm not sure if she was intentionally flinging stuff for fun, or if she was just trying to free the cone from things it got stuck in as she desperately tried to smell the earth (or whatever surface it might be). She would also do this cute thing with throwing her head back after sniffing the ground, and it was adorable. She also pranced with her head held high as she wore the cone; I think that was a result of being a low-to-the-ground dog, and the cone would drag (and occasionally make her trip) otherwise.

That's it for now... I gotta see if I can entice her to come upstairs, so we can play the "let's-dodge-while-mom-tries-to-clean-the-incision-site" game. It would be frustrating, if she wasn't having so much fun playing keep-away. *g*

Oh, quick note, she is now an officially licensed dog. Now I can take her to dog parks legitimately. Yay.
