Gracie walks
through the door to the closet in her office. She looks around the room approvingly, trying to get rid of the sinking feeling in her stomach. She fingers Kate's watch and sighs. She starts toward her desk, but then stops and turns back toward the closet door. Her motions a mix of curiosity and hesitance, she reopens the door she just came through. Milliways is on the other side. She looks at the scene for a moment before stepping back through.
"Hey, Gracie! Long time no see!" A glass is raised in her direction as some of her friends acknowledge her. She smiles and waves at them, trying to push past her disappointment. This is where she belongs. She knew it would be a one way trip.
She heads upstairs to the suite that she, Kate and Bill share. She opens the door without knocking. "Lellow Kake? Bill? Anyone home?"
"In here, half-pint!"
Grace follows the voice and finds Kate reading a book on the large bed that fills her and Bill's bedroom. Kate looks up when Grace enters the room, her smile welcoming. "Hey there, Gracie-Boo." Concern enters her features as she notices Grace's expression. "What's wrong?"
Grace crawls into bed next to Kate and snuggles next to her. "Missed you is all."
Kate's expression softens and she rubs Grace's hair absently. "Did mean Bar lock the door again?"
Grace can't help but chuckle. "You could say that." She shakes her head. "You'll never believe where I've been."
"Oh, I don't know. I've gotten used to some pretty weird things since I came to Milliways."
The room is quiet as Grace debates; Kate willing to let her think on what to say next.
After several minutes Kate blinks. "Hey..is that my watch?"
Grace grins. "It is.
And you can't have it."
