So basically tomorrow morning is one of the most anticipated events in the awards season. The Golden Globes? Forget them. The SAGs? Old news. The Critics' Choice Awards? Don't even bother remembering the winners. Tomorrow morning the nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced. What follows are my hopes for the nominations. I have

I'm totally in love with Match Point right now. That film blew me out of the water.
Some things I don't agree with:
I think (and by think I mean hope) that Match Point will replace Munich, and I'll be surprised if Crash gets nominated (even though it won the SAG it was released too long ago, the Academy forgot about it) Capote would be a great film to replace it with, but I'll be surprised if it gets the nom for picture because it was such a small release. (But it will get the noms for Actor, Supportin Actress, and adapted Screenplay [extreme outside chance for Director, because he was a first timer])
Another small release that will get overlooked is The Squid and The Whale. This is another film that I'm absolutely in love with. It'd be great if it got a picture nom. (but it probably won't because I was surprised it got one at the Globes) More realistically for this film would be Screenplay (even though Crash will win) and Laura Linney for her role. Don't count the Big Lebowski out for Actor either, he had a great portayal of a dickhead father. And I loved the technical aspects of this film.
This year seems to love David Cronenberg. I think he'll get a nom for Director because this film is EXTREMELY different than any other Cronenberg I have seen. Don't count Ed Harris out of supporting actor (like I did for my personal film awards, because I completly forgot about him) he was creepingly terrifect. (I know I can't spell.)
That's all I can think of now. I'm sure we'll talk sometime this week about the noms. I'm probably the only nerdy enough person to care and show my disagreements with your posts. And you're probably the only person that would care about my opinion, so that is why I post it as a comment on your journal and not an entry on mine.
Peace In Kurt.
