Yesterday morning, we headed out to Hersheypark. When I say "we," I mean my brother and I, mom, and dad. It was my first trip out there in two years, and it was not as much fun as that last trip. Last time, I was just starting to date Allison, mom and dad were still married, I didn't know what it was like when someone close has a nervous breakdown, I didn't know that distance was the most destructive force that exists, and it wasn't so fucking humid. We drove a different car then, and on the way home, I sat in the very back seat and time didn't exist. Last night, the whole family was in a convertible, so cramped together we could feel the distance between us, and at dinner there was an awkward moment when each parent wanted to pay and there was confusion and dad was upset at the table. The farms between Hershey and home smell like shit and waft out onto the highway, and I saw a yellow car with a vanity plate that said "YOUR IT" and I had a grammar geek moment, and we stopped at Cabela's in the morning and bought ammunition. Next cool things for indie kids: baseball games and handguns.
