Anyway, I'm updating now because if I don't, I'm going to play Sims 3 and never return.
I saw Conan O'Brien yesterday! My new-ish friend JackieO (I know many Jackies, so that's how I'm telling this one apart from the others. And another aside, YES sometimes I do talk to people and make new acquaintances, I'm not a complete hermit) texted me on Tuesday to ask if I wanted the spare ticket she had for Thursday's taping. UM. YES! Her friend Mark came along and she picked me up at around one. We got lost around Universal Studios because no one saw the sign that said THE TONIGHT SHOW with a damn arrow. But we made it and then got handed our tickets and waited around for a long time.
The whole experience was so much fun. The set looks tiny in person! I don't know why I imagined it would be this huge stage, it just looks bigger on TV, but irl everything was all close together. Not that I'm disappointed, I'm just saying. And Conan! It was weird having him there in person. I don't think I believe it yet. BUT HE WAS THEEERE! And Norm MacDonald! He was the best! After the show ended Conan told us to sit tight while he filmed some promos. He did this bit where he checks out Craigslist ads with Slash, and we got to see it (and all the other clips, duh) during the show. So Conan was ready to start and then Norm peers at the cue cards and says, "Craigslist? What's this about?"
Conan: What? Didn't you watch the show before you came out?
Norm: ...No! I had to take a giant shit!
And other shenanigans that made Conan ruin like 5 takes. AAH IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!
Once they let us out we were all starving. We'd been hungry since before they let us in. Also, Mark wanted to see the game so we just found a sports bar in the area. We would have been stuck in traffic if we'd tried to go home. This Mark person is hilarious. He was in love with this shitty little place and kept gushing about their beer for 2.50: "I love this place! I can get everyone fucked up for $40!" And in that environment you can't help but get excited. Unless you're Jackie, who just sat at the table texting away while everyone else was going crazy cheering and giving each other high fives after the Lakers tied the game. Lolz. Yes, even I got excited. No, I was not drunk. Slightly buzzed, yes, but not drunk. I only had the beer Mark bought me and about 3/4 of Jackie's Guinness which she didn't feel like finishing for some reason. I could have had more booze, but I didn't want to drink until I had food in me and it took them FOREVER to get my damn hot dog out. It was seriously fun, though. During the commercial break after the tie the bar played "We Will Rock You" instead of the audio for the ads, and they did the same during over time (different songs). Then the Lakers won and everyone went crazy! Some random at the next table put his hand in front of me for a high five, Mark hugged me for no reason and we laughed at Jackie for looking at us like fools (in good fun, of course).
So yesterday was a good day. I came home and watched Conan and I pointed out to my parents which horribly pixelated blob was me when the camera panned to the audience.
