I just backed up this journal and my old one, just in case LJ dies. I am, perhaps unreasonably, attached to my scribblings about my daily life. Even the shitty high school ones. I cringe, but I want to pat my 15 year old self on the head and say, "it's okay. Soon you'll start ranting about things no one else cares about, but it'll be so much better than going on and on about Jorge. Trust me. Oh, and you're not going to get any taller, but your feet will keep growing, so don't get too attached to those orange Chucks. Why do you even like orange this much?"

Ummm yes.

I started Val's scarf last night

It's a good thing the skein of yarn I'm working from kind of... broke? I don't know what happened. I guess they rolled all the yarn up, realized there wasn't enough, and patched it up with another thread. So I was knitting intensely and then the thread kind of detached itself from the whole thing. It's cool because I got to make a small sample to see if the scarf was even looking good.

I found this: http://smariek.blogspot.com/2008/05/two-diagonal-scarves-miles.html

which I thought could look nice as a thinner scarf and I knit this far:

It was about 4 inches wide, but I didn't like the borders at all. Maybe if I was making it as wide as it's "supposed" to be they'd work. I started again today and got rid of the borders:

Much better, I think. And when I knit it for real, the edges won't be so lumpy or have unnecessary holes. I just wanted a quick sample. So if Val likes it, I will proceed with the rest of it.

P.S. this musical choice was so not on purpose

knitting, val
