snake balls
I love when you can tell people are trying to bullshit their way out of learning. Or at least, BS enough that time runs out and, in the case of language classes, their turn never comes. Matt tried his best to pull a stunt like that today in Latin, trying to sidetrack our prof with questions about balls of snakes she saw growing up in Canada, or what exactly wast the result of a horse and a donkey of either gender mating. My favorite was when he kept going on about owls and why they'd kill poultry. When our prof stated that she grew up near turkeys who were often found beheaded by owls, he was just incredulous and demanded an answer to why owls would bother eating turkey heads.

He still had to "translate" and I still got to read the part where, after Lucius is turned into an ass, he states that the only comfort he could find in the situation was that his penis was huge, but it didn't really matter because he couldn't hold his girlfriend in his donkey form (we're reading Apuleius' Metamorphoses or The Golden Ass).
TIDBITS OF TODAY:
+ Gwen Stefani is possibly pregnant again!! YAAAAAAAAY!! There's been much speculation on ONTD, as there always is whenever a celebrity wears loose clothes or somehow blocks her abdomen from view either with bags, or in Gwen's case, another kid.
+ Speaking of expecting, I was making up my Latin quiz in the reading room and I heard Kristine asking someone about Erickson's whereabouts (he was in his office at the time... I heard him asking Lindheim about her neck, so I don't know where she looked). ANYWAY!! Whoever she was talking to told her he was trying to cut down on his work load because HIS WIFE IS PREGNANT!! SHE'S DUE IN MARCH!! EEEEEEEEE!!! I'm just giddy at the thought of Erickson offspring running around!! I'm even more amused by Peggy buying a set of Phaistos Disk stamps "just in case" this summer when we went to Knossos. OMG HOW PRECIOUS!! So congratulations to him and the missus! May little Ahenobarbus be healthy.
+ I BEAT GUITAR HERO!! V.M FTW!! I got home earlier than usual because Gallucci had a headache and called off Greek, so I got myself a burger and watched Hot Rod (COOL BEANS!). After the movie, Val was off to work and I didn't feel like doing anything except taking a stab at "Misirlou" and "Institutionalized," the last two songs left before "Freebird." I somehow beat the first two, and then it just took me two tries to beat "Freebird." SUCCESS!! Now to move up to Expert. Oh, and look into Guitar Hero III.
