Even if almost everyone on my flist has already played along.

Cookies
I love cookies! I love eating them, making them, decorating them (note to self: make cookies!), I think they're just tasty little bits of happiness. Unless they're big cookies like the one Meche and Brenda made me: in which case they're big bits of happiness. I like cakes but making cookies is much more fun. My mom, back in the days when I was little and we used to bake and I pretended we had a cooking show, was more of a cake maker, so making cookies was more of a special occasion- usually Christmas. My favorite cookies will forever be these soft, impossibly moist chocolate chocolate chip cookies Ortega had one day during my Freshman year. Oh god they were so good...

Gabriel Garcia Marquez
El coronel to tiene quien le escriba was my first encounter with this most brilliant of authors, and one of the many stories my dad used to tell about and then encourage me to read. We found it in Spanish at the library, and despite having liked it, I was only eleven and easily distracted. It wasn't until high school that I read García Márquez again when my favorite English teacher ever let us all borrow his books and I chose One Hundred Years of Solitude. I fell in love with the Buendias and all their eccentricities. True book love.

Jim and Pam
I love The Office and the relationship between Jim and Pam is one of the main reasons I love the show. They're pretty much perfect for each other- best friends who just have to be lovers. And really, their antics are too hilarious AND precious. I want a love like theirs!

Kermit the Frog
My love affair with Kermit began when I was very young and used to watch Muppet Babies on TV. I loved that cartoon, and Kermit was my favorite. His more popular adult self just makes me very happy. I have a small collection of stuffed Kermits, one even talks. And I think I added him on to my interests because of my collection, but kept him there after this one night my second year of college. Val and I were trying to sleep but we kept sharing funnies. At one point we said, "Ok, sleep now!" and I accidentally pressed the talking Kermit's hand, and he said, "Smile and say, 'ribbit!'" and that just made us laugh even more.

Paul McCartney
I love the Beatles and Paul in particular because I'm most familiar with him. A long time ago when we first got a CD player, among their assortment of Mexican pop, classical music, and disco hits, my parents had Wings: Greatest Hits. It was a CD I enjoyed very much as a kid. I love every Beatle, but I feel like I've know Paul longer. Also, had I been a teenager back in the glory days of Beatlemania, I know I would have definitely been a Paul fangirl.

Saturday Night Live
I started watching this show in high school and fell in love with Maya Rudolph, Will Ferrell, Amy Poheler, and of course, Tina Fey. When it wasn't on I would watch any reruns Comedy Central used to show and got acquainted with casts of the past. I fell in love with the show, it's sketches, and the cast. I still enjoy it despite what haters say (it's just popular to say "it sucks now" and "it was better when [Cast Member] was on!"). It took on greater meaning once I got to college and found a group of friends who also loved it, mainly Laura. That Halloween we all dressed up as SNL characters (I was Mike Meyers' Linda Richman) was one of the most magical. But I digress. I still watch the show out of a sense of tradition, and I stay for gems like Darrell Hammond's impressions and the Digital Shorts. It doesn't "suck," it's just different and has it's good and bad sketches. It's pretty ridiculous to think that a show that's been on air since 1975 wouldn't change.

Star Wars
I LOVE Star Wars. I don't even know exactly why or how. My dad rented the trilogy when I was about 8 or 9 and my brother and I just LOVED the movies. We were just in time for the new theatrical releases. I loved Han and Leia and went through a period in 5th grade where every week or so I made my mom (who was OBSESSED with sending me to school with my hair in a hideous braid) give me a different Leia 'do. I had really high hopes for the prequels, but they all turned out to be steaming piles of shit. So really, when I say Star Wars, I mean the ORIGINAL trilogy, without any of the other "special edition" bullshit Lucas wanked out.

the office, kermit, star wars, food, gabriel garcia marquez, snl, paul mccartney, memes
